HEADS UP! I just found this out today; If you have any modern Operating System (Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10) and plan on datalogging with MegaLog, or you want easier access to your saved maps/Eeproms, do not install ECM Spy in the default location. Instead, back up your current saved Eeproms and Maps, uninstall ECM Spy, and reinstall it to somewhere not in program files, like your desktop. The default install location won't create a Megalog folder and will not save logs, at least not on Windows 7-up. By changing the installation folder location, it gives it more read/write freedom and will work as designed. | ||

If you right click the icon for it, and pick "Run as Administrator", it should write those files/folders fine. The program was last updated during the XP days, and XP allowed standard users to write to Program Files when Vista and newer do not. Running as Administrator should give it write access to the folder. | ||

Im completely new here, but i just went threw some ecmspy trouble so I thought id offer my tips. I fought with it for a day or so and finally won. First of all, thanks a million hunger, the link was exactly what i was looking for. Second, for windows 7 and 8 users (what im using on my laptops), download the driver cdm 2.08.28 and save it to a file on your desktop. If your laptops are like mine, they would not find the correct driver but gave you the option to "browse" for your own (that file you saved to your desktop). After I did that, my ecmspy works flawlessly. | ||

I installed it ran as administrator in the stock location and it worked fine but would not save log files at all on my tablet. It would save the Eeproms and Maps but they were not visible in file explorer even with hidden and system files visible. By installing as admin on the desktop, it will save the files in plain sight (viewable in file explorer) as well as actually save the log files. Megalog is really cool. I like that you can analyze the tables according to the logs and it will make changes accordingly. I won't be able to see how well the initial map changes from Megalog work until tomorrow morning. But I will update tomorrow. BTW the tablet I'm using is a Winbook TW700 running Windows 10. I got this specific tablet because it fits in my RAM Mount X Grip (large phone size), has full windows, and has a very solid securing full size USB port. The fact that it is $70 at Microcenter and comes with 1 year of Office 365 is just a bonus  . |
