I have a 08 XT and was wondering how much engine vibration transfer is normal. It only has 10k miles and vibrates so bad going down the road my feet, hands and butt go numb. To see out of the Aprilia mirrors I have to pull the clutch and let the engine idle at any speed. |

it will vibrate...but that sounds a bit excessive. |

That does sound a bit excessive, mine's an 08 XT also and the only annoying buzz is around 75-80 mph through the foot pegs. I did notice today that my work boots wanted to slide around at street speeds, but that's more due to the soles, I don't notice it with riding boots on. It may have low miles but you still might want to check the front and rear isolators as well as mounting hardware. Good time of year for a once over anyhow. |

My '08 X will vibrate noticeably more if the primary chain is too loose. It's also harder to find neutral. |

+1 on primary chain. If that's not it, check the front isolator. |

Mine was as smooth as could be at freeway speeds, just shook at the stoplights and low >2500 rpms. |

I have replaced my front engine mount/isolator at just under every 10,000 miles for this reason. I have back problems that magnify vibrations up my spine. Each time the rubber web of the front isolator has proved to be failing, or on the verge of failing. The first two were replaced under warranty. I have fixed a couple of other's Ulys with the same complaint by changing the front isolator. One of which vibrated so bad that I could not ride it more than a mile when we swapped bikes for a test. These rubber mounts make these bikes run quite smooth. If they are working correctly vibrations should not be a problem to be complained about. The primary chain has to be out a fair amount to cause the problem, but it certainly can be the cause also. If the bike has a comfort kit, that has a header cover that can come in contact with the bottom of the right fuel tank spar that can cause a nasty engine vibration to the "frame". |

Thanks for all the answers. I am going to check the primary chain first as it is a real pain to find neutral. |

Etennuly, Do yourself a favor and buy an inversion table for your ailing back. Can't imagine what life would be like without mine. Keeping your weight in check is also a good idea. |

My XT used to have a lot of vibration problems until...1) the ECM was replaced due to the seat induced connector crack issue and 2) I put some di-electric grease in the female ECM plug receptacles, thus sealing the electrical connections and making them less electrically noisy. Ever since, the thing purs along with no real vibration at any speed, rpm, or load. |

I replaced the front mount and tightened the primary and it all seems better. Thanks for the input. |
