Who knows anything about this kit? Is this a drop in (plug n play) replacement for the 43mm Showa forks? Feedback on improvement over stock for the track/street?

That's the previously available EBR Showa upgrade kit. Pretty much pull out old stuff, drop this in and like magic - noticeable improvement over stockers. I run 'em on mine and no complaints. |

There's a nifty install and set-up manual that goes with it. Not sure whether it's copyrighted or open-source, though. |

Stirz, thanks for bringing up the manual. I was going to contact EBR for a copy, but when I checked the kit for the second fork, voila! A nice CD with a 21 slide color powerpoint. Now for some tasty reading! |

EBR a few years ago. I remembered I had them in the rafters and figured I better use 'em sooner or later. I'm doing a front end rebuild so it's a good time. (Message edited by fresnobuell on August 06, 2014) |

Great instructions for this kit. I had one question for any knowledgeable suspension folks. See the excerpt below. I can't find this tool anywhere online. What exactly happens to the damper rod as the spring is being compressed? Will it slide on its own down into the cartridge and this tool is to pull it back up?

Handy, but not required. You can find 'standard' damping rod tools at RaceTech, Motion Pro. |

It allows you to pull up the damping rod in order to get the top hardware on. I did it with a piece of dowel with some tape wrapped around the end to screw into the rod. Now I have tool from Motion Pro, I think. |

That Motion pro tool is around $40 and comes with 4 different size fittings. Thanks for the dowel+ tape idea. So here is my shopping list for this fork cartridge swap and service. Please let me know if I am forgetting something. 1) Motion pro 47mm fork seal driver 2) Motion pro 47mm Fork seal Bullet 3) Race tech spring compressor 4) 47mm Fork seals 5) MOtion pro Fork oil level tool 6) Fork oil (5w or 10W)???** 7) Fork vice *** 8) Lots of paper towels...lol **I have a note in the kit (From myself) to use 5W oil, but EBR in a recent email said 10W. OPinions? ***Have not seen a reasonablly price tool to hold the fork and to allow the top cap to be unscrewed. Suggestions on alternate methods of accomplishing this with something I might already own OR a link to a tool that might do the trick. Thanks for the advice in advance. |

You can do this with none of the tools above. Of course if you want to have them that's great. Use 5W I used a caster and ratchet strap as a compressor, the dowel above and a 1-1/4" PVC slip coupling is a perfect seal driver. Thank you Rob. You are the man. I don't need to spend money on the tools and your improvising is perfect. thanks for sharing. One question. Did you have the bottom of the fork attached to the caster in anyway? |

No. Just the tension on the strap which kinds of wraps around the edge of the wheel. A little awkward to get on. Might try some double stick foam tape to hold it to start. |

The wooden dowel (sanded to a taper) thing works well to keep the damper tube from spinning when you loosen/tighten bottom bolt. |

A little over a pint per leg as I recall - you'll need three pints. |
