If the ebay username is any indication, it looks like a female seller with relatively low number of transactions. I wonder if she knows what she has... Unfortunately my garage is now plum out of room. I was hoping someone from BWB would buy it. |

SOLD for $3651.00. God I hope it wasn't Uden.. I clicked on this thread again because it showed Court as the last(4th) poster and I was curious to see his comments, but it wasn't him. Strange...anyone know why that is? |

On ebay it's not sold until it's sold. Don't be surprised if it shows back up due to a deadbeat bidder. I've seen Court's name as the last poster on many threads but when you click on it his comments often aren't there. Apparently he frequently posts and then changes his mind and deletes his comments shortly thereafter. |

Ah, got it. The scary thing is, the seller is in Oklahoma, same as Uden. The winning bidder only had 6 bids in the last 30 days so I don't think it's him. I sent the seller a message asking how she came across the bike and why she is selling such a gem and if she knows whether or not the buyer is a Buell lover or not, and that it would be a crying shame if the bike were to be chopped. It will be interesting to see the response if I get one... |

Who's "Uden?" Some chop 'em up chopper guy? I'm guessing he harvests Buells and then puts the engines in stupid American Chopper wannabe attempts? |

Uden is in Omaha, not Oklahoma |

Yes, Omaha, you're right 99. David Jay Uden - he parts out a lot of Buells on eBay. Never see him selling an entire bike. |

Why is the fact that he parts out Buells a bad thing? What I'm driving at is, who buys the Buell parts he's selling and why do they need them? |

I get what you're saying, General. It isn't that it's necessarily a bad thing, many of the parts he sells probably keep some of our bikes on the road. I just don't like to see when nice examples of rare bikes get dismantled, and in this particular case it looked like a really nice bike. I'm sure some of the bikes he gets have been crashed, laid down, etc... for whatever reason it doesn't bother me as much when those are parted out. I realize it isn't practical thinking on my part, it's emotional. Simply put, I love Buells and I just hate to see one die. Not much more to it than that.. |

Oddalloy. No plans to sell right now but everything in the world is for sale if the price is right. This would take a 5 figure number to get me to even think about it.

I'd sit on that one. The S1, with the passage of time, will be THE definitive example of the "HD Years" Buell and this particular S1, never registered, is precisely as Des and Nate crated it leaving the factory. I have a similar situation with another bike. Enjoy the beauty of the bike and bask in the passage of time. In 10 years, that will be a mid-20's bike. |

Sweet bike. Makes me feel pretty good about picking this one up for $2500 with only 6000 miles (including a large cache of original parts and spares). Hard to predict the future, but I'm somewhat doubtful a minty fresh version of my bike will be worth 20 large within a mere ten years. Once the bike approaches 40 years old and accounting for inflationary effects? Perhaps by then.

That's another pristine example of an S1. I'd loose the helmet lock and get one of the "green" air cleaner covers . . . .(have them available if i wanted to return to stock) and then ride the heck out of it. Mike's is an unridden example right off the line and I'm sure he'll leave it untouched. It MAY be the ONLY untouched (even the ones HD captured) example of a perfectly stock S1. |

Thanks for the compliments Court. I have an NOS original air cleaner for it. Is that what you mean by "green" air cleaner? I probably will install a forcewinder to get more knee room for riding though. Unless you guys think the forcewinder sucks or something? This bike is a rider for me, not a garage queen. I already put the stock exhaust back on it, which improved its overall performance. Gotta nice hugger for it on the way too. Every time I ride, I like it more and more. Feel like a little kid on this bike. |

That is SO cool . . . . and, in this case, you are likely improving the value by riding it. I agree about the knee v. air cleaner. It was never a big problem for me, at the time I was riding S1's a great deal, because the other bike I was riding was an XR-1000 and, like all XR-1000 riders, you learn to ride with your knee splayed out. It sounds like you have a correct stock rear hugger. If not, let me know . . . I may have one laying about. That bike is kind of special to me as the S1 I kinda "borrowed" (remind me to tell you how we used to keep track of test bikes on a white board and how easy it was, when we were done with a test series, to make one disappear for the balance of the time left on the 2 year WI MFG registration) was identical to yours. It was unit B-031, used for testing a number of brakes (I still have all the various rotors here for some reason that escapes me) and I ended up using it in sort of an "off road capacity) Fun stuff. |

General Ulysses has a way of tracking down the bottom dollar deals. We grew up together and have been riding motorcycles together since we were kids. Two weeks ago we were out on our Buells and I rode his new S1. I've wanted one since they came out in 96. That evening he calls and tells me he found yet another deal. I jumped on it and pickup this 96 S1 twin tail in NJ for $2250. A one owner bike with only 6400 miles on it.
I want to convert it over to a single tail and put PM wheels on it. Single tails are a bit hard to find but I'm not in a hurry... it's in climate controlled storage. |
