I normally use Harley Synthetic 3 in the trans and engine oil. Does Walmart sell any decent synthetic oil that I can use for both? If so, what would you recommend? Thank you. |

I found mobile 1 vtwin 20w 50... is that cool? I have a quart of the Harley Syn3 for the trans. Does this sound good? Thanks again. |

The vtwin works fine for me, the lighter 4t oil was not good. |

Both those oils are great for either chamber. |

Jim I think you are thinking of the Mobil 1 75/90 gear lube in the tranny. Stay away from that.. evil stator killer it is. Otherwise what Bill said.... (Message edited by bluzm2 on April 08, 2014) |

Thanks Brad. I knew it was something like that. How ya been man? It's been a while since I've been active on here. I recently picked up a new toy to add to the garage. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/21/ 734747.html?1396646302 |

I'm in the AZ, when I tried Mobile 1 V-twin during the first summer I had my 12R, my fan came on less. Easy sell for me. |

The crud in my catch can is much less with the vtwin oil, I normally only get water in the can. When I tried the 4T oil I got lots of oil in the can and it ran hotter, etc. |

I've been using Mobil 1 15W-50 in the engine and Formula+ in the primary/trannie for about 60,000 miles now with no problems. Keith |

If you don't let the engine oil level get low. Change the oil between 2500 and 3000 miles. Just about any *W50 weight oil will work. I have only used Formula + in the primary. Currently my '06 Ulysses has Valvoline Super HPO SAE 60 in the engine. 6qts for $35.00 @ amazon |

The Mobile1 V-Twin did surprisingly well in the second AMSOil white paper testing. It's about the only "cheap" oil I would reccomend. Unless you're into the whole Shell Rotella thing, which I've seen on plenty of sport bikes, but I don't know enough about the "harley" engine to comment on that. |

Amsoil greatly lowered the operating temperature of my 12s, but it used some oil. Went back to Mobil 1 V twin, and it quit using oil. No big deal really, but I was used to it not using ANY oil between changes. She had a leakdown of less than 3%. |
