Cicotto did 1:56s last year in FUSA Sportbike. I think the fastest Buells in FUSA Thunderbike(detuned to meet the power to weight requirements) this year were in the 59s. Too bad they're not doing the AMA yet. Hopefully soon, but it will be tough to run with full factory bikes with the likes of Bostrom, DuHamel, Gobert, etc... |

Thought Randy's bike might have been a Thunderbike. The Buell's will have to bring more power to the table than the T-bike rules dictate to run in FX. Too bad the "factory" team wasn't ready. EBoz is flying. What a surprise, Mat's complaining. I bet Nicky misses him in MotoGP. Sure wish we had a good dose of European talent, though, to make the racing more interesting.

Thats why there not there.Talked to Kirk the owner of Hal's,he said in the bikes present state the factory based race BUELLS are about 135 rwhp and the factory 600 inlines are about 150rwhp.He said they are going to meet those numbers but they wouldn't have enough time testing the bike and getting them ready for Daytona. He then said they will be out in full force at Fontana. |

If Cicotto was able to turn 1:56's last year, he certainly would have been in the mix in FX this year. Sucks to start the season at race #2 with no points, but if they need the time to get the bikes up to speed then so be it. Interesting... Brian Parriott is 3 seconds slower in Boxer Cup qualifying than he was in Thunderbike. Must have had more power in Thunderbike? |

JQ, What does FUSA Sportbike have to do with Brian Parriott's Thunderbike and Boxer Cup qualification times? You done gone and lost me. Man! Matt Wait must be a demon in the wet, or he was the only rider with full rain tires. |

My information is that Buell did not decide their factory teams until January this year leaving little time for Hals and Kosco to prepare for Daytona races. Also Daytona is just a big dyno – not the best territory for the XB’s and remember last year, the XB’s ran out of gas!! Sure they have more gas available in an extra tank in the tail, but its still marginal if they could make the race distance. Other than just being there and waving the flag, I’m not so sure that Daytona every featured as part of the factory plans for the 2004 season. |

Daytona has very rarely if ever mattered in the actual championship in either series. It if did, guys like John Ashmead would have been recognizable champions rather than someone that it seems only a few appreciate. Daytona typically favors not the best or fastest team, but the team that has the package with the most development. The Ducati surge this year is not really unique, it is just there is probably more team members that actually have experience with the WSB team, etc. Marcus |

"Just pointing out that Buells were doing 1:57's in FUSA Sportbike at Daytona, not 1:56's as claimed." I didn't hear anyone say the Buell's "qualified" in the 1:56's. I heard someone say that Mike Cicotto had run in the 1:56's on his Buell at Daytona. Certainly you are not calling someone a liar based upon just a 1:57 qualification time. Certainly you can imagine that during the race or in practice Mike could have easily surpassed his qualification time. I still don't understand your referral to my statement about Brian Parriott's times in Thunderbike versus Boxer Cup? Marcus, Then that is good news, although with Miguel winning the opening round of the FX class, it would have been nice to get a few points on the board no? |

BTW Blake, you got it backwards in your post, Brian ran 2:07 in T-Bike and 2:04 in Boxercup according to the qualifying times JQ posted (march 03,2003 9:01pm post) |

Thanks for the correction. That makes even less sense. You'd think the Thunderbike Beemer would be faster than the supposedly more stock oriented Boxer Cup bike. Must have been track conditions or lack of catching a draft. I understand that catching a good draft can make a huge difference in lap time at Daytona. I think I finally understand JQ's post now. It was a two parter, 1st part calling attention, albeit cryptically, to my transposition of the Mr. Parriott's qual times. Second part being, well, being JQ. |

JQ, do you happen to have the 600supersport times for last years qualifying? It would be interesting to see the difference in times between the 600SS and the FX bikes. |

How about this year's qualifying. Makes no sense. The DOT shod SS qual times are WAY faster than the slick shod FX qual times? Must be track conditions. Still disagree that the SS bikes are putting down 130 rwhp JQ? AMA Formula Xtreme Qualifying Results:
