I believe ita normal when shifting from a stop in neutral to 1st there is a big clunk. However my hand really hurts from the heavy clutch. Recently I have heard an intermittent noise shifting from 2-3. Tonight riding home as I was down shifting on two occasions the shifter was going doing but not engaging the gears. Its been 5000 miles since the last transmission and engine oil change. I have adjusted the primary screw as the manual states and have not yet rode the bike to see if the issue stopped. A few months ago I had to replace the primary cover as the clutch ramp area had broke off. I noticed on the new.primary cover, the clutch ramp area is scored and looks like some metal has been damaged. Any ideas as transmission issies are beyond my capability. |

I've found mis-shifts to be more likely an issue with my neglecting to move my foot far enough from the lever on the previous shift, thereby not allowing the mechanism to reset for the next shift. I have found clunky and notchy shifting to be more a function of primary chain tension than anything else. |

I think the XB bikes are more like the beefier one. |
