I just did this pawl adjust since I had to replace my shift shaft. the hole in the detent plate will be at approximately 11:00 sitting right above the pin on the shift drum. I also put the bike in neutral and shifted up twice... have not yet fully assembled motor so have not tested my work yet on a functional run... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/726050.html?1388623948 |

I am fairly sure that there is a difference in the pitch of the gears between those years. Which would require that you also replace the final drive gear that is attached to the other side of the shaft that the front (of course) pulley is on. You could determine that by asking a dealer for part numbers for a gear of each year and see if they are the same. As to adjusting the pawl, I saw that David went to some effort to get the exact drill bit mentioned in the manual. I have used the closest "normal"/fractional size and found that to be close enough for the accuracy that you can see. |

Gears might be different but it should all bolt up - correct ? I was going to put it in as is and run it for awhile, then later put in the baker drum and maybe change the gears. I just want to make sure I have a working trans before I start making changes. |

Inspired me to do some digging in the archives. The change in trannys was in 94, so you're good in that respect. |
