blowing headlights & suspect a VR not working properly... havent seen anything wrong via voltmeter though... on an 08 xb12x.
start up in darkness & notice low is gone & riding the bright gets very bright & quickly goes back to normal. it will probably blow soon...two sets already have...

i'm interested in LED repacements if available & wonder if they are more voltage spike resistant?

I would fix your regulator as it will affect your bike's running and may fry your ECM.

To confirm the issue, log some data with ECMSpy. Here is an example of what you may see with a fried regulator (13 - 20V).

I think, not totally sure, that you need TunerPro for the newer bikes. Also pretty sure it uses the same cable. Froggy should know if he's watching.

LEDs will burn out if they are overvolted, (they pop like fire crackers), so in the end you wont be fixing your likely VR issue, and you will damage everything electrical including the fuel pump and ECM

The free version of ECMspy is not compatible but Tuner Pro RT will work.

Put a decent volt monitor on the bike even after you fix the voltage/spike problem.

Tuner Pro is a generic prog and works on many cars/bike so you will need to learn how it works. You will need the Buell file as well from the Tuner Pro site to make it work.

ECM SPY was made ONLY for Buells and is the best option now since it has been updated and has a logging function. You just need the version for your 08 bike. It cost a small donation fee for a hospital. Seek advise from Pash as he part wrote it.

I have been messing with LEDs for a while now. The light output numbers vary as does the quality. Only buy them from a source that will replace faulty items easy and take a return if they do not meet your requirements. For a headlight improvement just fit a slimline HID system. They are cheap, easy to fit and work great. I think the 6000K low beam, Halogen high beam with the both lights on mod (done at the switch) works very well.
