I replaced my O2 sensor recently(it had been throwing a code at high speeds) and the engine light came on again today, this time in heavy stop and go traffic. Same code. Anyone have an idea why this would happen?

There is only one wire coming off of that sensor. Follow it to freedom!
My X1 liked to burn the wire against the rear header.
Also, the header is the other wire in the circuit. If the header isn't connected to the engine properly, then it has no ground.

Also of note-the light went OFF after getting some speed and airflow after traffic lightened up.

My '06 used to do that too.
The ECM, PCB, was cracked; I fixed it and have not had an o2 code since.

Printed Circuit Board. Inside the ECM.

The ECM PCB is FUBAR and you are SOL.

PCB = Printed Circuit Board

It can be fixed with some determination.

I have a spare ECM. I will give it a shot.

I assume you mean by "giving it a shot" you mean swapping the ECMS...not performing surgery on either.

Portero72. If the O2 sensor was faulty the fueling would be all over the place once the engine got past about 100C. Or at least thats what happened with mine. You can turn the O2 sensor off, ECM-SPY, but if its on the CEL code only tells you it is connected or not. If the bike runs ok then it sounds like a cable break or at/in the ECM. Good luck.

Ski

Yes, gonna swap them. Not foolish enough to attempt a repair.
