Any ideas on how to keep from breaking exhaust studs, I was thinking about buying some ti bolts and threading those in. But I figured I'd ask here first if there's a better solution. |

Somebody just went up one size to larger studs, and reported that it worked well. Forget who... In general, you only break header studs if something else is wrong, so I'd look for that first. (Message edited by reepicheep on April 18, 2013) |

Given that I've only seen people racing them breaking exhaust studs seemed like the right place to ask. (Message edited by Tony216 on April 19, 2013) |

I think generally you break exhaust studs if something else is out of alignment in you exhaust system or if you don't torque things in the right order. I raced an XB for 3 years and only broke one stud after multiple engine & exhaust swaps. I no longer have the bike, but my best recollection was that securing the exhaust system was a process of gradually torqueing down all the fasteners gradually to give everything a chance to come into alignment without excessive stress on any particular going. You may find better answers searching through the knowledge vault. |

Thanks Knickers. I have a Beson (Bison?). I don't really recall much bolting it together. But I think I'll take it all apart (again) and see what's going on. |
