Has anyone been on the Buell website lately? They now have polished aluminum upper and lower belt guards for the XB's. If anyone has a set of these, I would enjoy to see some pics of how they actually look on the cycle. I would love to get rid of that ugly ass plastic. I just don't want to risk damage to my belt by taking them off. (My parents live off of a dirt road.) Rich |

too bad they don't make em to fit the '03's. look nice. on a side note, wow, the buell website has both added and deleted a lot of items. i love the new helmet though, very cool. |

The belt guards that I am talking about are for the XB. They are in the "Details" sections for the Firebolts and Lightnings. Rich |

Why can't just the belt guards from an 04 fit an 03? Does it hit something, or not bolt up? |

the new one's on the site are for the 04 firebolts and lightnings, belt width and entire guard system is different from 03 to 04. |

so does that mean that the rear pulleys are different as well. I remember that dave listed a changeover kit. But can't remember if there was a new pulley in the kit. Hmm, to bad we can't just switch the guards only. |

i think the belt is wider as well as thicker, so i would imagine a new rear pulley is needed as well. |

Ilikehotchicks, Of course one can be made out of aluminum. How deep in your pockets do you want to dig? Find a good metal fab guy and go to town. There aint' enuff 03 bikes on the road for any of the aftermarket to take on the r&d for such a small market. As far as the pulley's mentioned above. Yes they are way different. The pitch is different, and so is the width. To go from 03 to 04 you need all the parts. Both pulley's, belt, guards, and a bracket to relocate the rear brake master cylinder. HTH |

What a load of wank.......I mean the real danger is the LOWER belt guard as thats where all the little rocks are gonna get flicked into the belt and go through 1 rotation in the sprocket causing belt failure. So why the hell not make a nice polished one that fits in the LOWER section??? Looks very sexy but your still gonna get your belt shredded if you remove it all and just add the top one. Even if you do leave the bottom one on you get a sexy chrome top and a nasty black plastic bottom. WTF?? MAKE A CHROME LOWER ONE DAMMIT thats all I want. I thank you. lol |

just for reference, I have 15,000 miles logged without a belt guard... I see no wear difference between my belt and a friend's belt who still has the guards. I've seen people get pebbles in their belt even with the lower guard on... just bad luck |
