My 95 S2 has never (while I've owned it) had a stock muffler on it. I bought it with a Supertrapp. I ran a Buell race muffler for a while, with a spacer to mate it to the stock 2" header. Then, I put the race muffler on my M2(not)L and put the 'trapp back on the S2.

Then, I resurrected a co-workers S2T. With a Supertrapp. Along the way, he mentioned he thought he had the OEM muffler laying around the barn somewhere.

He found it.

Now, my bike isn't stock. Still has the factory heavy flywheel, but I put a Thunderstorm top end on it with X1 cams and S1W ignition, and rejetted the CV. I also have XB rockerboxes which cut down on the puke (stock hoses into the air filter). I tried running the 'trapp with a closed endcap and the bike fell on its face, even with a rejet and tweaking and all sorts of grumbling on my part. So...I pulled the endcap off. Runs great, hate the noise.

So I get home from work tonight and put Roy's stock muffler on. No jet change yet, only got it bolted on, torqued down, and blew up and down the driveway.

Wow.

It runs as good (at least WFO through first on my 500' driveway) as it did with the race can, but ohh...that glorious silence....wow. I can hear myself THINK on it again! I'll be riding it to work again tomorrow for a more thorough shakedown, but I have high hopes for it. It mimics my Ulysses and 1125CR - outstanding performance from a stock muffler. Those damn Elves really know what they're doing : )

(of course, it means I'm going to have to spend more money...if I can find a stock muffler...because Roy's is - understandably - a loaner).

Well I definitely need to re-jet. Pulling up the mountain in fifth at about 95...I could feel it loading up a bit ; )

Runs great though! Damn, I need to find myself one of these stock mufflers. I could focus on so much more of the ride this way...my turn-in is actually a little twitchy, I need to check tire pressures. My valvetrain is actually pretty quiet. And I need to do a better job of rev-matching my downshifts because I managed to slip a couple times on entry.

All good things to know : )
