Does anyone know if special ops is still making heat barriers? I have emailed him a couple time and have called him and have had no response. Thanks |

I don't know, but I found that an adhesive foil barrier on the bottom of the seat works better. I "feel" it's better for the ECM too. I also used the foil to block the heat from coming out between the seat and frame in the front of the seat. |

Do an internet search for "hot rod heat barrier" an you'll have many choices. |

I got my Special Ops barriers a little over a year ago and still love them. I'll probably add the adhesive foil stuff to the inside of the frame when I do an engine rotate though just for a little extra. I don't know for sure about now, but Odie was pretty busy with real life as well as the Special Ops stuff back then. Communications some times took a little bit but I'm still a very happy customer. |

Hey All, Odie is still making the heat barriers, I got mine over the summer. Just be patient with him and follow up a week or so after your order. I am very happy with my 2-pc barrier. |

When I purchased my 09 Uly, I found the PO had lined the bottom of the seat with a product that had thick aluminum foil on the outside and some sort of rubberized adhesive backing. It was difficult to get the seat off and I found that the rubber stuff had been melting and made a huge mess under the seat and on the frame rails. I then noticed a depression in the material where it was crushing the engine control module. It took me hours with mineral spirits and a gasket scraper to get it all the crap off. By this time, the ECM connectors were cracked. I would not use anything that looks like it could melt.... |

While Odie has a terrific product, you will not regret the foil choice. I did the best I could to get the inside of the tank and block the gap between the seat and the airbox. The "comfort kit" did help the fan run less, but after the foil, it didn't make it more comfortable. |

I got one of Odies heat barriers. Arrived about 20 days later. The product helped somewhat. What did work for me , I mean 50% less heat, was to use the blanket differently. I tucked some under the seat where heat streams out and draped the remaining right over the frame where your thigh cooks. I Then velcro'd the bottom under the frame to hold it tight. Its the only thing thats worked for me. BTW Im going easy on the "that doesn't look very cool" attitude I once had. On long trips Ill duct tape a slurpi cup to the handle bars to hold a water bottle for drinking and misting. Im at the stage where want to be semi comfortable when I ride. Love the Uly but if it gets too hot Ill just use another bike. Try it. Might work for you. (Message edited by chorizo on September 26, 2012) |
