Back in a series of postings on December 29, 2009 there were some production numbers of S2's listed and there were some discrepancies in the numbers. I don't know what the authentic production number is of 1996 S2 models, but my timing cover says "187 out of 200", so I'm assuming that there were only 200 1996 S2 bikes made for the 49 states. A small number indeed. My serial number ends in 1187, so i'm guessing my timing cover plate is authentic for the bike. Am I thinking correctly here?? |

I want to say 200 was either the Cali bike number, or the Canadian/export bikes. 1313? |

Isn't the total number around 1400? For 1995 MY 49 state S2 production I'd have to concur. I'd have to place my faith in the #'s 4speeder posted. The only reason is due to the fact that as soon as the 1995 MY was history, I asked at work how many we had made. I was told 1399 49-state bikes and 86 California bikes. Ah, 1995, the longest production MY in Buell's history (March 1993 - June/July 1995). Memories... 1313 |
