According to Erik the Bikes were setup to complete the race and not go all out. Eslick was making a great charge from the back before being flagged. May rode great as well fighting the KTM's the whole race. The weather made a change for the worse which really effected the race. Overall it was a great day at Road America with LOTS of people wearing EBR gear and a huge line to meet May and Eslick during the pit walk. |

We picked up Pegram on the first lap of qualifying and right at the end got the call to pick up a bike after the kink which is one of the worst places to try to get a bike but I could have cared less when I got to the bottom of the hill.... look what I found!
Like always Geoff was a class act. He had no issues with taking the picture and even took time to talk a little after we got the bike back off. If the bikes were not set up to go all out today, tomorrow will be very interesting. |

May would have done better had he not run in too hot and over shot turn 5. Thank God for the huge runoff lane there. Rumor I heard in the paddock is a certain Yamha rider is running a WSBK spec engine. And with the way he walked away from everyone, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. |

Yeah I guess there was some heated conversation at yesterdays owners meeting regarding the times a certain bike is running!! Overheard some people talking in the pits. |

And if you are an American motorbike race fan, you better be an EBR fan. Or you're not American. Don't want to hear Japan. |

I just watched the race on Speed TV and I thought that Yahama was much faster than all the rest of the bikes. I didn't think it was the rider either! They must be doing something extra to that motor to run like that. We'll see. |

Rumors do nothing but disservice the sport. I humbly request either proof or to please knock it off. |

Alas . . again the facts lack the drama and intrigue of the internet rumors. Danny and Geoff will be at full force today. Exciting stuff. |

Request denied. Josh Hayes is a great rider, but not 2-4 seconds a lap better. Not 4 seconds in the first lap faster. We will see if someone protests and the AMA pulls the motor apart. Remember Maladin and the nice polished and knifeedged crank he was running in his motor? Hayes is one of my favorite riders, but sorry, he's not that much better than everyone else. And to think there is no bending of the rules in the AMA is childish. I understand what you are saying, but I'm just posting what I heard from several teams and from people I know on those teams. |

And Court, a few of those I heard this from are in the camp you are hanging with this weekend. Go figure. Better scold them while you're there. |

No one will be pulling any motors apart . . . for a better understanding . . go look at when the same thing happened in Formula 1 auto racing. The Super Bike grid is packed full of some very talented riders on some incredible machines. The traction control, to those who can afford it, is a huge advantage. And, while it may not be terribly popular with folks who lack the $M/weekend budgets . . fact is, it's legal. The confluence of talent and technology always yields interesting results and will, over time, raise all ships. Bitching and whining, about something that is legal, is a fool's errand. What to do about it is the problem of the AMA and AMA Pro Racing, the folks who's pay checks come from folks coming to see exciting racing. They'll likely take a look at it . . but, for now, it's legal. |

Court: "They'll likely take a look at it . . but, for now, it's legal." Is there a formal protesting procedure that could come from a team and that AMA would HAVE to accommodate? If Hayes engine and bike ARE, in fact legal, they are going to be hard to beat, even on more favorable tracks to EBR's 1190RS. But with Speed channels interview with Erik and the great things they were saying, we (Buellers) are well on our way to respectability. Our time has come. WOW! Hitting the canyons today and riding proud. Bob |

*shrug*. Hayes is a great rider on a great bike, no doubt. I would think that if he were cheating, he would be keeping people closer to him, not opening up 8 second leads. So if they are cheating, they aren't being very smart about it. (Which leads me to believe they aren't cheating) Boy did Danny cover some nice ground in the few laps he had before the magic smoke came out! I look forward to seeing how it will go today! |

I was just looking at the times in live timing during the race and have been wondering the same thing. Josh is a monster on the track. I wonder if they should weigh bikes with the riders just before the start? Josh probably has an enima before each race to help save weight. |

The AMA rules allow major changes to the cylinder heads. His team maybe taking advantage of that better than others? And he is riding better than he ever has. |

he is about 1.5 seconds per lap and 14 seconds overall faster than his teammate on supposedly identical bikes. |

Dave hit is squarely, I believe. Add in that the 4 cyl is theoretically superior in V.E. I'm sure the guys will figure out how to pump a few more CFM without gutting the lower torque curve. Geoff and Danny are amazingly talented, and engineering gives away nothing to anyone. The development is coming along nicely, with a few items to iron out. |

I will agree that seeing one guy pull away from the rest of the riders is hard to swallow but he is on an identical bike as his teammate and he is that much slower like everyone else. Hayes is a machine... i didnt see a bicycle in any other pits which tells me he has an idea on what he needs to do to be the best rider he can. Leaving the track i wasnt thinking about Hayes. What I was thinking about was what has changed just in the last year. I have never seen so many people wearing EBR and Buell shirts and hats. They were everywhere! During the pit walk the line for Danny and Geoff was always from one pit wall to the next. The EBR stand selling merchandise seemed to always be full when I drove past. People are taking notice. It was awesome just standing around the EBR trailer listening to people talking. There were people that had no clue and asking questions to anyone who might be able to answer. A mom talking to Erik about how her son's walls were covered in Buell/EBR pictures (and a teenager with a red face standing nearby). I even heard one guy laughing and talking about how he couldnt stop watching the guy with the vacume cleaner who constantly went from one bike rug to the next. Of course, I got sucked in and had to watch too, haha. I was watching EBR, the little team from small town Wisconsin / USA and they were showing everyone how one man's additude and dream could affect the team members to be the best and represent what Americans are capable of. When the National Anthem started I swear every tool hit the ground and the same time and they were ALL standing outside the tent in a line faceing the flag. I did have to chuckle when the guy in front of me had his hands behind his back and tried to check the time on his watch without anyone noticing... It has taken 6 years (?) to get those Yamahas to be as fast as they were this weekend and its taken less than 1 year to get the 1190RS to do what they did this weekend with better engineering and less electronic aids. Hayes better keep it up because it wont take the elves 5 years to catch up. |

Let us just bask in the amazing things the EBR team has been able to achieve. |

i have never raced. i have never been a great technical rider. it just seems that if the bikes are the same, that much time is quite a bit of difference for riders at this level. these are the best riders not in moto gp, wsbk, or any other series. as an avid cyclist, there was lance, than the rest. did he cheat? we don't know. i hope not. but winning by that much over and over again makes one think. that's all. i hope that nothing bad is going on. it would be great see someone that good showing the rest that this is how it's done. i am not expert enough to see in on the race hightlights. |

The EBR--Enhanced Battle Rifle--oops I mean Erik Buell Racing 1190 is an infant in a world of mature motorcycles. Yamaha has been tweaking their motors since the FZ750s. Considering the very short amount time the 1190 has existed and the "budget" involved, what is happening is nothing short of landing on the moon! To top if off, I just read that Hero just reported a record sales of 14%. Things will only continue to get better. |

I was just glancing through this month's Cycle World this morning, which has an article on the Road Atlanta race. There's a fairly long blurb about EBR and Hero's involvement. On the last page of the article (the page isn't numbered for some reason it says this: "The EBRs are essentially non-electronic bikes now, but a 'Marelli-ed-up" version is in the works- Western technology, Asian money and ambition." That sounds like we might see traction control on the EBR bikes pretty soon. |
