My 2009 1125 manual is useless. Says I need diagnostic manual. Nice. Huh. How do you pull codes with the toggle and the key? |

Hold down the two buttons on the dash, turn the key on, the bike will enter diagnostic mode. You can tab through to view the trouble codes. |

Uh, all sorts of crap is wrong... Did you have a low battery during cranking or a disconnected battery recently, or a disconnected ECU? Among other things, it's saying the ignition system has issues, the fuel pressure is low, it has problems with both fans, and it's having trouble with the low fuel indicator system. That sounds like a disconnected harness, or a serious low voltage condition. |

Or, did you just install an EBR computer? Fresh installs have a tendency to spit out tons of codes... |

I am currently seeing... #1 U0001 Comm Error #2 P0087 Fuel PR sys err #3 b1005 Low Fuel sys error Brand new 09 Instrument Cluster in the 08 and I am getting errors. LFL/CEL on every start up and LFL mileage kicks in for a few miles then resets back to normal. What a crock. $276 for a new IC and this is what I get. Any help with a diagnostic manual on the codes? How long is the LFL cel showing for ? I'd ride it for a while, a long gentle ride on a motorway at steady RPM clears codes, mine had those up for a while. Are you still on stock ECM ? |

I had the 08 IC that did not show CEL or LFL and recently replaced it with the 09 IC expecting those to be fixed. Now my LFL/CEL come on each time I start the bike and stays on for anywhere from 2 miles to 11 miles then turns off. |

I thought it took 50 start/stop cycles to clear old codes. When my LFL is acting up (usually when it's under 45F or so out) and throws a CEL, the condition clears up after riding for a few miles and the CEL goes out. But it still shows the low fuel sys error in diag mode when I scroll through. (Message edited by baf on May 01, 2012) (Message edited by baf on May 01, 2012) |

you guys with the LFL/CEL problem need to check which software revision is in your cluster. there's a bug in 6.1 that was fixed in 6.2. |

I did have the battery disconnected for awhile while I was doing some work on it. And I did move some of the harness around when I was working on it. I'll recheck the connections. I bought the 1125CR used and it has had some serious issues (wrecked wise) but was running when I got it. I've only got to second gear in the thing and not over 35 mph yet. How do I find out if I have 6.1 software or 6.2? |

Kinda sounds like the P0087 Fuel PR code and the B1005 Low Fuel sys error are fairly common. Is there a way to reset codes or clear codes on the IC for my 09 CR? |

"How do I find out if I have 6.1 software or 6.2?" it shows you the version number when you're pulling codes. you must have missed that. "Is there a way to reset codes or clear codes on the IC for my 09 CR?" for users? ride 50 times and the historic codes will drop away. for techs? i think the shop software can do a reset. |

The fuel pressure errors can occur from running out of gas, and that is the cause of it the majority of the time. If that was the case with you, it will just be a historic code and will clear itself out after you start the bike 50 times. If it is a live code, it will not go away, and you have some issue that needs to be dealt with. Regarding your other errors, comm error is a loss of communication between the cluster and ECM, this could be anything from a loose cable to the battery being dead. Disconnecting the battery can result in it too. This is another one I wouldn't worry about if its historic. Your fan errors sound like you have an issue with the fans. I would run diagnostics on them to verify they are functional, and then see if the codes go away. The bike was wrecked so all bets are off.

In diagnostic mode, after the tabs for the codes and all the live data, it will say something along the lines of software version, and 6.1 or 6.2, with 6.2 being the latest and greatest software that fixes a bug with the low fuel light coming on incorrectly. |

the bug in SW 6.1 causes LFL + CEL to be displayed whenever the ambient temp and coolant temp are about 50*F or lower. If you have a topped-off fuel tank when this happens, the full tank additionally causes B1005 to be set as a historic code. this is a sofware logic error. it looks like somebody confused the settings of low fuel=T and full=T when they programmed the cluster's truth table. instead of the low fuel condition setting the code for low fuel error, it's the full fuel condition that sets the code for low fuel error! Interestingly, you don't have to run out of gas to make this happen; you have to be full of gas to make this happen! the historic code will be set even when you have plenty of gas if you're being bitten by the 6.1 software bug. If you bought a new 2009 cluster that has 6.1 then you should complain about the bug and that someone sold you an obsolete cluster. Demand warranty replacement of the IC with one that has SW 6.2. Here's another thread that might help: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/659032.html (Message edited by timebandit on May 01, 2012) |

I checked and have SW 6.2. Unfortunately I guess its going to have to go to HD. I do not want to do it but I only bought the new IC for the LFL/CEL and Gear Indicator and it looks like 66.6% of those do not work. Any suggestions before I make the appointment? |

the update from 6.1 to 6.2 fixes what Zack calls a Type 1 error. if you have the LFL/CEL with 6.2, then you probably have what Zac calls a Type 2 error, which relates to the fuel pump sensor drifting out of calibration. See Zack's posts about how to deal with it. from what i remember, proposed solutions revolve around either replacing the fuel pump or adding a trimpot to the sensor to recalibrate it. |

Thanks TBandit. I read the link on the LFL/CEL fixes. I have SW 6.1. I figured alot of the problems codes are what I did when I was repairing it and I tripped alot of codes. I did notice one thing missing after pulling the plastics and am going to get it ordered tomorrow. I like the #1 fix idea and just ignore it. Funny thing I have the LFL light blink on my XB9S all the time. I just use the trip odometer when I fill up and go by that. |

Getting closer to figuring it out. Any clue why I can't get the cooling fans to work and the speedo doesn't register. Anybody have an idea. Gonna be having a 1125CR for sale soon. To much electrical/computer issues with this bike. |

bolt, i'm in san diego if you feel you MUST get rid of it... maybe my wife will let me have a race only bike... check the vehicle speed sensor connector under the seat. have you checked all the fuses? |
