I gather from another thread that the Ulysses and the Lightning Long have the same swingarm, but I am left wondering: Does any year SS swingarm fit any year X, or are there year to year differences? If anyone has a definitive answer, I'm all ears. |

Not only does it fit, it is 100% the same. All years of Ulysses and Lightning Long and STT all have the exact same swingarm. Powdercoat color is either Graphite Grey or Phantom Metallic Black depending on what year and model it came off of. (Message edited by froggy on November 13, 2011) |

If they have the same swinger then why is the ULY taller? What else do you need from the uly if raising the back of you bike is you goal. btw: yes I know it affects the handling. |

The Ulysses has longer shock and forks to give it more height. The XB12X, XT, SS, STT all use the same frame and swingarm, with the biggest difference between them being the suspension. Your profile says you have an 05 S model, you would need the longer swingarm and matching belt to use the Ulysses rear shock. |

What if.. I just throw the ULY shock on the S to raise the rear? If you just want to raise an S model w/o streching it you could throw a ULY shock and ULY front forks on an S model? |

The shock mount is spaced differently giving a smaller angle on the long swingarm, the longer shocks would raise an S more than the SS. |
