While I'm not entirely put off by the styling, I must ask if the exhaust could be mounted ANY lower?

The more I look at the new bikes...and I do like new stuff...the more grateful I am I found my Uly...first.

I'm guessing the exhaust is mounted low to allow a full size bag on the right side. Other than the low exhaust, I don't mind the looks of the bike, overall. I do like the new Triumph better though.

All these bikes are starting to look the same, just like the multi strada. Ugh. My Uly is a work of art compared to these, and even the Uly could've been improved. These manufacturers should start taking more style/design ques from KTM IMHO.

I like it better than the looks of the strom, though thats not saying much. And I would probably prefer the strom motor.

I guess I love my Uly. : )

A friend of mine owns a Versys that he bought for practically nothing and he just loves it. He's done trips on it and has nothing but good things to say about it. I imagine the 1000cc Versys will be a good seller for Kawasaki. Looks nice to me. I'll be keeping my ULY though until that 500 mile per charge electric Buell becomes available.

Like Motorbike (a few posts above), I suspected that the lower exhaust would provide more bag room, and if I were a prospect in that market, I'd be appreciative of it, even at the expense of a slightly unsightly can.

I do like the fit and finish (artistry?) of my Uly when compared to other bikes. Like Uly_Dude, I tend to find its bits, parts and pieces more appealing than what I see on other bikes.

Hopefully Touratech builds a massive protector for that radiator in the front, or you'll be walking/stranded the first time you hit a decent size rock in the dirt... not to mention the exhaust and lack of bash plate... I can see the extras adding up quickly on this ugly beast.

At least the new Honda, Yamaha, and Triumph models look like they wouldn't break the minute you take them off-road.

It isn't meant to be an off road bike any more then the uly is.. If you want to go off road, get a KLR.

Options and competition are a good thing. The only Kawasaki I have ridden is the C14, which I liked a lot. I don't view this bike as a serious adventure/tourer but more of a less expensive, slower Multistrada. I look at most adventure/touring bikes like SUVs. Meant to look like something they really are not, but still with some characteristics that can make them desirable. Kind of like my Uly. I know some take their Ulys off road, but that is not why I bought mine and I doubt not why most others bought theirs either.

Fixed that for ya! : )

(And if you don't believe me, I have the MRI's to prove it, and those were from taking the KLR-250 into the woods, and it's far more of a dirt bike than the KLR-650 could ever dream of being).

I like it. Its nice to see more practical bikes make their way to production. It may not be a bike for the woods but it would beat the hell out of a cruiser/sportbike for hauling groceries and then hauling down a twisty road.

The Uly's a fun bike. If the Versys is using the Z1000 engine, it will be a really fun bike.

I like. More sport tourer than true "adventure". But that's cool with me. Like the new 1200 tiger as well.
