Uly needs new tires. Looking to see opinions on longevity. I have an X1 for carving corners, I use the Uly as a commuter so I am looking for tire suggestions of tires that last. I very rarely take the Uly off the beaten path, but do enjoy weekend rides up and down the mountain. I appreciate any input. Josh |

Anything dual compound should fit the bill. I run D616 on my Uly so that doesn't count...but I have Michelin PR3's on my S1W that I love, and PR2's on the S2 that look brand new with over 7k miles on 'em. Nice hard compound down the middle for slabbing, sticky shoulders for the twisties, and great tread patterns for wet traction. NOT recommended for off-pavement though, the carcasses are thin. |

Pr3s on my Ulysses and love them. 4500 miles on them so far. |

+1 for the Michelin PR3's. Only have about 500-1000 miles on them but they stick and seem good. I had D616's on my bike up until 16,500. Front tire was original and was on my third back but lost one due to puncture. Was getting between 8-10k on rear depending on how much I highway blasted and or rode 2-up. |

Cool, thanks for the info!, was thinking of 616's but heard they don't last long on the Uly's. Josh |

Like I said my 616's I thought lasted quite some time. Front tire was probably done between 12-15k but I pushed it to 16,500. Rears 8-10 which I am happy with out of a 180mm tire. That said I still switched off them. Had to try Dual Compound and boy is my bike glued in the twisties now. |

I'm thinkin of getting the PR2's. Not sure if the PR3's are worth the extra because both get great reviews, and the PR2's look better IMO. PR3's look like they belong on a UFO. Josh |

If the Uly is your commuter, the 616 is not the tire for it. I only get 5K out of the rear before the superslab flattens the center. Speeds typically 80mph+ on concrete roadways which is pretty hard on tires. |

Thejosh That's like saying your gonna get an iPhone 3S over an iPhone 4. Number increments generally increase as refining, technology advances and new features increase, thus newer is almost always better. |

Right, but if the 3GS does everything I need it to, why spend extra on the 4? And I would have to disagree though, new is not always synonymous with "improved". |
