You should have sold it on craigs or cycle trader. You could have easily gotten $5k for it. Trading in a vehicle is almost always going to get you the worse end of the deal. |

It was worth it not to have the hassle of where to keep the third vehicle until it was sold. That $3,500 works out to a bit more too, because the 8+ percent NYS Sales Tax is also deducted from the final purchase price of the vehicle. |

Jaimec, what saddle bags did you go with and how did you mount them on your bike? |

If Erik built scooters, he'd've built a TMax. Did you know it even has a "pull shock" suspending the rear wheel? |

Cataract2: I have the Buell saddlebags that were sold for the 1125R and the Firebolt (so I guess they would fit either bike). Here's a picture from last year's Ramapo 500:

Jaimec, hate to see you give up on your Buell. You did a great job with the Buell board on Yahoo for a long time! I give it up to everybody who commutes in a big city environment. Where I live MCs suffer casualties on a regular basis. |

Piaggio: Don't trust Italian reliability, and the lack of a dealer network. Spyder: I'd sooner get a Miata. It handles like a car, gets worse gas mileage, and costs as much as some cars. Takes up the same room as a car in the garage too (which means I wouldn't be able to fit the K1200LT in there with it). It's a vehicle I just don't "get." If I wanted a three-wheeler, a Ural would be at the top of my list. (Message edited by jaimec on October 10, 2011) |

Jaime: I'm thrilled to see this . . .having known you "pre-Buell" and over all these years . . .i know you to be a serious rider. I'll be excited to hear your thoughts and I'd be willing to bet you lunch (you know where) that you'll be back on an Erik Buell product within the next 18 months. . . . In the meantime. . . have fun, lean much and smile more! |

I don't get the Spyder either. It has all of the disadvantages of cars and the disadvantages of motorcycles. On top of it they're dorky. A Miata is a better alternative. |

Jamie: sounds like you did your homework on these things and I wasn't being a stinker I truly wish you good luck with it. I just can't wrap my head around you on a scooter. Now I am gonna be a stinker Go-Go chicks won't look right on a scooter |

Good on you for your decision. My DMV instructor has a Bergman Executive, he wanted to ride a Buell so we switched one day. all I could say was HOLY CRAP!!! What a load of fun that was. Power in all the right places, comfort galore, storage galore, AND handling galore to boot. Electric foldable mirrors, Auto mataic, or push button shift, electric windshield, ................................................. making myself think twice.......hmmmmmm. LOL I'd ride one, course I like bikes, period. |

Met a rider on a road trip. Older woman in a full body suit riding a big ass "scooter" loaded with luggage. She was on her way from Norfolk VA to Hickory NC and we talked about her scoot for a bit as I had a smoke after gassing up the Buell. She had ridden a V-Strom for 4 years but never really liked it. Too top heavy. She tried a little scooter but it was no good for her. The giant scooter suited her perfectly and she said it was much more comfortable for long road trips than the V-Strom. Ya never know... The important thing is to remain a rider and to be happy about your ride. |

I saw that. No word on whether they'll sell it here though. Yamaha is also releasing an upgraded TMAX next year. So far, Europe-only. Europe is riding a massive wave of "Maxi-Scooter" popularity, it seems. Even BMW is rumored to be announcing a 500-650cc Maxi Scooter at EICMA next month. Time to speculate on an Erik Buell Racing Maxi-Scoot? Is THAT what Court was hinting about earlier?? |
