went for a ride yesterday, not too bad for heat, stuck in slow traffic for almost 40 min., bike got hot. Almost home , bike sounded funny, slight vibration and loss of power. Checked antifreeze when it cooled, ok. This morning she started right up sounded fine, got a half mile away from home and the engine completely stopped!. Theft code came on, waited and it went off, put a jumper box on the battery, nothing, is it the end? 2009 1125R 4400 miles, oil level ok, |

Thats a little vague. Is there voltage?,was there noise from the engine? did the oil light come on ?did the slipper clutch engage when it stopped? When your guages went off and you jumped it did you get lights on the cluster? Does it click if there is ? There are a huge amount of unaswered questions that can help you decipher the problem |

Sounds more electrical then mechanical. |

it is almost like the engine seized up, the rear wheel locked up and I skidded to a stop. The cluster is working. When I had the jumper box on the battery, it was as if the starter could not spin, the battery connection started to smoke. Is it possible that the engine seized? |

Not likely. Put a battery charger on it and leave it on the battery. Start bike and let it get up to operating temperature. Shut off bike and check oil hot and in upright position. Careful with the dipstick as you can cross thread it. |

It does sound electrical. If you hit your kill switch while moving, depending on your gear and speed, it can easily lock up the rear. The theft error is making me think you are having an ECM related issue. |

seized i would think the starter is engaging and trying to turn a locked engine |

I weigh 245lbs and accidentally hit the kill switch going 35-40mph down hill recently. The engine kept rotating, I had some pretty good decelleration! I restarted it before the turn. Skidding down the road makes me think the worst. |

Pull the spark plugs and attempt to turn the motor by rolling it in 6th. Best way to see the steak is by putting your head up the cow's butt. |

What I would do is pop the stator side puck off and try to turn the engine over the same way do do when you check the valve gaps. That is a easy way to check to see if the engine is siezed IMO Mike |

Mine had locked up this summer. It was from a nut backing off the crank jamming into the case. Just got it back yesterday I think it runs smoother now with the new lower end. |

Tried to push the bike in sixth, no go, the wheel would not budge and just noticed oil leaking on the right side. |

I will have to look at the water pump. Almost home the day it overheated and it started to loose power and ran rough, it was almost like the timing had changed. Vinb, did yours give you any indication prior to the engine locking up. |

If your bike is not under warranty anymore there are several decent looking engines on ebay right now. |

A nut backed of off the fly wheel and damaged the casing, causing the engine to lock up/seize. Harley-Davidson Arlington is being sent a new engine for my bike. I should back on my bike within the next few weeks. Yes, it will be under WARRANTY!!! |
