Just installed a bestem top box on my 1125CR by mounting two square braces to the rear seat pan. Does anyone have any creative ideas on how to cover the bars and seat pan to make it 1) presentable and 2) water resistant. As it is now, if it rains the battery compartment will get drenched. http://www.flickr.com/photos/48787468@N06/49433384 07/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/48787468@N06/49433360 29/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/48787468@N06/49433360 29/in/photostream/ |

Carefully apply sponge 3/8X1/4thk door weather striping under the large flange that mounts to frame/rear fairing. Get a crappy rear cover, sand down w/320 wet/dry, spray with Krylon (plastic) gloss black after cutting two parallel slots (back to front) into the cover, so the rails can stick up through. Put a couple SS pan head 1/4 20 screws into a tapped rail or part beneath it. Bag looks real trick! No I have not done it but it seems reasonable enough to do with my 1125R rear seat. Hope this gets your creative juices going. |

Update. Found a reasonably priced cowl on Ebay (that came with the passenger seat, Bonus!). http://www.flickr.com/photos/48787468@N06/53370803 24/in/photostream/ |

That looks great! Good job. did you have to manufacture the place that goes in place of the seat? |

Were you planning to carry a passenger with this setup? If not you could've installed the box over the seat pan instead of hanging off the back for better weight distribution and the benefit of some weather protection, I'd think. Otherwise, it looks sturdy enough. Good job. |

I sold the bike and still have the seat pan, brackets, and cowl if anyone wants it. It's easy to install and only needs a topbox with mount. I saw ones with the box installed directly on top of the seat area and did not like the way it looked. Hanging off the bike is a non issue. Not like I was carrying concrete or anything! PM if you are interested in the cowl, bracket and seat pan set up. |
