Thinking of havin surgery also... can't decide if I want some thing removed, added, or just enlarged... So it looks like I know where to look for you Friday night. We can all take Acid and watch the big night light on the damn. They won't find that in a UA! |

I'm happy to say that's Eric and Jaci for this one. And I'm hoping to say..."on the Ducati" but I'm still working on a satisfactory recall clearance letter to be able to to register it up here. Back up plan is a battered-looking Buell. |

Checking on some route ideas... Hwy 11 out of Bellingham then instead of just heading to 20 straight away, maybe South Skagit Hwy from Sedro Woolley to Sauk River, then connect to North Cascades from there...more scenic and relaxed. I think we'd be in Winthrop for lunch-time. (Winthrop/Old Schoolhouse Brewing??)With our pace(!) if it's too early, there are some places in Twisp too. Leaving Winthrop, I suggest an alternative to the 20 and that's just alongside the east side of Methow River, Winthrop-Twist Road. It connect back to 20 at Twist where, from there, you can go on 20 towards Okanogan and Omak then 155 down to Coulee Dam. Been looking at some routes once we're in Coulee. There's lots of loop options short and long. Maybe even a stop at Old Molson ghost town? I'll bring my map with some highlights. Bringing my passport too, just in case. |

No Border Raid for me again this year. The S3T has been sitting at Doyle's HD in Eugene since August 9th while 12 would-be mechanics scratch their collective hind ends and try to figure out what kind of Harley it is. Have fun. If I am riding next summer, I may see you then. |

If you have a gps, here's a route I created from Bellingham to Winthrop in gpx and Garmin (gdb) files. Both are in the zip file.

Good work, other Eric. The block of rooms are held on my charge card. I'm going to have them cut loose any not yet claimed tonight so I don't forget and miss the deadline. |

Okay, here's the updated route proposal. The .gdp file is for Garmin, the other is a gps exchange file. The .gpx file can be loaded into Google Earth and you can "fly" it!

Talked to Shawn today and he's in. So's his brother, whose name I forget, on a Buell. Shawn suggests the Canucks should meet somewhere in the morning, cross at Abbotsford and do Mt. Baker, Watcom Lake, and maybe Chuckanut Drive to get to Bellingham. I'm still stalled on my import documents for the Ducati. I might have to re-focus and try to get the Buell running for this gig unless I can get confirmation of progress tomorrow from the parties involved. So I may end up staggering over the border Friday night, rather than being free to ride for the day. Anyone wants to join Shawn, his bro, and maybe me and Jaci, check here for meeting place and time on Thursday night. |

Those of you not messing with gps, here's a Mapquest link on my suggested route with directions. BHam to Winthrop There's a road just before Rockport on the south side of the Skagit that comes out at Marblemount and I may look at going that way. There's gas in Marblemount and Rockport too. |

Trying to come up with some route suggestions for Saturday and Sunday. What kind of mileage are people comfortable with? I've got a 280 mile loop up 155 to Omak (with some backroads), then up past Tonasket on Loomis-Oroville Rd to Palmer Lake, then through Oroville on Toroda Creek Rd, diversion to Old Molson Ghost Town, then back east to Chesaw then Curlew. Backroad west side of Curlew Lake to Republic. South on 21 then over to 155 via Cache Creek Road and to Coulee Dam. Seems kind of short to me... |

Well I came up with another one and it's pretty epic. It's also 400 miles. Bridge Creek Rd to Inchelium then to Kettle Falls. Hy 25 to Northport then up to and bounce off the border crossing at Waneta. South on Deep Lake Boundary Rd to Colville. Orin to Rice and Down to Gifford. Addy-Gifford Rd to Cedonia-Addy Rd into Cedonia. At Hunters, east on Springdale Hunters Rd to Springdale. South on 231 to Little Falls Dam. Remote backroads to Wellpinit and Fruitland. South on 25 cutting off at Miles Creston Rd which connects to Hy 2. North on 21 to Keller Ferry. West on Manila Creek Rd to Hy 155 and Coulee Dam. Lots of options to make cutoffs on this route and make it shorter. Did I mention this was epic? Let's Go! I can post these routes in Garmin and .gpx files as well if anyone wants. |

Right now I'm trying to decide whether to go the long way (486 miles via Olympic Peninsula, Port Angeles, Whidbey Island) or the short way (275 miles up Hood Canal, Port Angeles, Whidbey).... |

Here are a couple of routes. In Garmin and .gpx files. Just suggestions. Anyway, both of them have many options for shortening or lengthening. |

May have solved the other half of my Duc problem: failure to start without a boost (at which it starts right up!) New cables, new battery (even though the battery store said the old one was OK.) Still no go. Then, brainstorm, drained and replaced the gas. Vroom. I think that's it. Tomorrow will tell. Still waiting on Ottawa to approve my recall document. Tomorrow should do it. Then I get to learn my bike with Jaci and luggage and a full day of riding leading into a week of traveling. Not the optimal plan but the only one I've got. |

Gotta love working to deadline. Got angry enough at the bureaucrats in Ottawa that they accepted my recall documents. So the Duc is on the road. Just got back from a brief trial ride. Thought it was making a lot of noise getting up to highway speed until I remembered that the speedo was in miles per hour. So 100 mph is about 8000rpm in third. This bike could get me in a lot of trouble, So where to meet to start tomorrow's ride? |

I'm sure the boarder will be quite a wait, given that it's a long weekend. I'll headout on my own to meet the peeps in Bellingham ASAP. Thanks Greeneric for preplanning some routes. 400 sounds like too much, but we can see how things go! |
