I've often thought about a dual brake front setup for the X1 but the cost has always been way too much. I once found something on the old X1 Files website (description below) but then found out that Trojan don't do this set up anymore. Are there any other cheaper dual set ups out there waiting to be found? ----- Dual Brakes (Trojan Horse) Twin front disc brake conversion. Using a Nissin caliper on the left fork leg, and a directional copy of the original disc, this is the most cost effective twin disc system available at £650 (US$900). |

a $1500 kit and they don't even give you a radial master???? that master is as old as my uncle!!! not even a vespa mounts a master like that! good rotors and decent calipers, but this kit is not even worth half of what they're asking for. he will never sell it. |

For us normal (or are we abnormal) riders the stock setup works just fine (at least for Me). And I could not justify that cost or even 1/2 that for whatever improvement it would provide. Hell for a bit more I could rescue another stock Buell. This site is awesome. Us Northeners need a couple more months to get rid of the snow and salt to ride. |

all tho the stock brakes work, Until you have used R1 or the like brakes then the stock Buell ones leave you(well me anyway) wanting for more. I'd like more initial bite and more powerfull braking with less lever action,as i had with my R1... |

I have a Braking wave rotor and stainless line on my front along with Lyndall pads. My front brake works great although I haven't raced with it. I couldn't justify that much just for the bling of another rotor that is no where near as nice as my Braking wave rotor |

I beg to differ, but then again I have three ZTL equipped bikes in my garage. Every tuber and Blast I have ridden has felt dangerously lacking in the braking department. A set of XB/1125 forks, wheel, trees, etc. can be had on ebay for less than half what this dual disc kit goes for. |

meh... until I was sloppy changing out the brake lines and got brake fluid on my pads, my s1 brakes were notoriously close to being compared to my 05 gsxr.... I would like to try dual xb brakes. That would be considered a fine line between stopping, and instantly parking, i believe. |

Froggy, does the xb front end - triple trees et. al. bolt straight onto Tubular Buells ??? I take it from your post that they do |

no, it is not exactly a bolt on affair. And you need custom rear spacers for the rear wheel. Its a whole other topic though. |

If you use tuber triples, it will lower the front end significantly. If you use xb triples you will need them machined and the tuber stem pressed in. Also, if you have a tuber that uses the mechanical speedo, youll have to figure out something else to run the speedometer off of. Im slowly getting all the parts i need to do the swap. |

thanx lads for the info. . . As to running a mechanical speedo off of ???. . easy solve on that - 1) Detach speedo from bike 2) Place speedo in left hand, leaving right hand free 3) Turf speedo over left shoulder - trying not to injure/dislocate if an older person 4) Use right hand to lift beer - beer will facilitate contemplation of excuse/story for ducks and geese (cockney rhyming slang for police) Chris in Ch-Ch, N.Z. |
