Hey all you Buellers, I rode a fellow BRAG member's 2000 Fat Boy this Saturday down at DOC's shop party. I am shocked to say... I REALLY want to buy a Harley now. Problem is... I REALLY need to keep my Buell because I love it way too much to sell it. How many people on this board have Buells and Harleys? I am sure there are quite a few... let me know what you have and how you like it ??? Thanks, Charlotte |

Different bikes, different rides, nothing wrong with owning more than one type of bike. I'll probably be getting rid of one of my Buells and getting a cruiser as soon as the right one comes along. See if you can find an FXR to ride before you buy. And take a RoadKing for a short freeway lap as well. Isn't the Tomahawk OpenHouse coming up this month? |

I rode a Sportster, and came away feeling like I've ridden worse. Still don't want one though, I'm more of a sportbike kinda guy. Cruisers never were my cup o' tea. I know some guys around here have a sportbike and a cruiser. Best of both worlds. |

I rode a Road King last summer and to quote a friend of mine after he rode a Gold Wing. "Its kinda like riding a Fat Gal, fun for the first 10 minuted but you wouldn't let your friends see you doing it!!!!" (I did not make up that quote) It was very comfortable ride, slow, long, did not accelerate very well and the brakes were terrible. But then again I did compare it to the S1. I also didn't like the fact my legs were stretched out near the front wheel something basically wrong with that position on a bike. However, One bike I did enjoy riding was the Honda ST1300 this past summer at Honda Test Ride Day. It was refined, pulled good, great luggage and the ABS braking system was something else But it had no SOUL, NO PERSONALITY like the S1 has. Therefore Buell 1, Honda 0 |

NO don't do it Char, he looks good the way he is, don't fatten him up !!! I Love my Buell and no longer want a Harley right now, but have many friends who ride them and I think all bikes are just fine as long as the owners are happy and they have fun with them !! And sometimes one kind of bike isn't enough for everyone and that's okay too !! CJ XB

Charlotte, I have a X1 for racing around, Bourget for hot rodding around, Road King for trips (mostly 2 up), and a 883 Sportster which is a loaner, ride to work bike. For me the first three are great for their intended purposes. A Fat Boy and a Buell, I think that is a pretty good combo. If I could only have one bike a Road King with a 95hp/100tq 95" engine would be my choice. Frank

Char: In addition to the Buells, I have a '96 FLHR. If I had to get the fleet down to just one bike, the Road_Pig would be the one. It's fast enough to keep me entertained, comfortable enough to ride forever (even two-up), and has needed about as much maintenance as a hammer. In 65,000 miles, I have replaced a clutch and a couple of brake rotors (in addition to the normal consumable items). r-t |

2000 X1 and a 2003 Wide Glide. Both are excellent at what they are intended to do. If you like the camaraderie of Buellers, you are really going to enjoy the additional relationships Harley ownership will bring your way. |

I am in charge of the rental dept at our shop and I ride a multidude of Bikes from Fatboy's to Dueces to Ultras an even the V-Rod. I wouldn't mine ownin one of each but same goes for the TL100R, Apprillia Falco, Duc 999 GSXR 750 an 1000 But the heck if I will ever give up MJ or stop riding Buells as my main ride |

Charlotte, I like the Road King better (skinny girls best!). Ride one before getting a Fat Boy. I've ridden a number of Harleys (loaners & demos) & have liked all of them. I like Sportsters best, but the Road King best among the big twins. They are all fun. Given that I can have only one bike at the moment, I'll keep my M2. Dave |

The ROAD KING may be alittle tall for Char but a lowering kit would do the trick. |

I think I am being swayed to the "dark side"... hehehehehe. Bob and I have already talked about building a Harley for me. I don't even have to feed him cheeseburgers... cause he already getting something way way way better than food from me !!! LMAO ! No, not that you perverts... I meant he's got ME! What more could he want? Anyhow, if we do this... it might end up being some kind of a hybrid, custom Harley... and I am sure it will suit me just fine... will let you know what we decide. AND I just quickly put the M2 in the basement at lunch. They are predicting SNOW tonight &^%$!!! I broke off a rear blinker and some of the plastic around my rear light. No lunch and too much coffee.... aaaarrrrgggggggh. Thanks, Charlotte edited by Whatever on September 29, 2003 |

Char, Switch to the XB blinkers. (I broke one of my rear ones this spring.) They don't break as easily, they're cheap, and they look better too. Mike |

Charlotte, No perverts here - just a bunch of guys with very creative minds. Snow up there at this time of year, Its been about 70-80 here in the daytime and cooling off to about 50ish at night. I hate to say this but please send more Hurricanes up the Eastern Seaboard so it pushes warm weather my way. Was sad news today in Halifax, Nova Scotia as a hurricane hit and two people were killed in vehicles when trees were blown onto them. One of them was a paramedic in an Ambulance - Whenever your number is up - not a hell of a lot you can do to escape it. Worst thing about this time of year with heavy wind is that the trees still have all their leaves so with winds up to 100mph they really catch the wind. A bit different in the fall and winter when the winds is high and there are no leaves. edited by Newfie_Buell on September 29, 2003 |

i owned 5 harleys in 3 years, including a v-rod and a fat boy. all good bikes, each had its pros and cons. dont take a fat boy to deals gap, you will grind off your floorboards. they call them self leveling! i kept mine for 6 months and traded it for a deuce. if i had lived in florida at the time, it would have been great. |

nah, just a recognition of what I'd like in my next scooter (actually, my next, next scooter) . . . my next will be something along the lines of a Multistrada (which is too ugly) or FJ1300 from Yamaha (which, as grounder sez, ain't "nichey enough for you" . . . he may be right . . . . . the Motor Company doesn't, today, make anything that addresses either of those needs . . . . eventually, though, when I need a bagger that's slow, I'll likely get an Enfield Bullet (grin) |

Enfield Bullet...I dunno Bomber. Always pictured you on an OD Green Ural with a Sidecar, leather helmet, aviator goggles and some military insignia. Would add to your International Soldier of Fortune Mystique. Slick, eh? |

I can't see me on a Harley, I'm gonna start a "Harley Denial Club" and Bomber is invited to be the first member. Damm things are overpriced and underpowered. If they were priced along the same lines as the Metric Cruisers then I may consider. OH MY God - I must be losing my mind with that comment. Quick someone me in the head. |
