Is there any way to view trouble codes on 08+ Buells? ECMspy lets me do a number of things like view values on the overview and runtime pages and even test diagnostic functions, but it doesn't seem to do the trick when i ask it to "read trouble codes" - it says "firmware not found" and i get nowhere. The reason I ask is because I've been experiencing a random "check-engine" lights and occasional stalling. When the bike dies, it's always from idle and it doesn't bog down and die like you'd get from a fuel problem - it just goes from a steady 1000RPM to dead and the light comes on. This makes me think it's electrical. I'd like to view the trouble codes to narrow my search. I checked my terminals, grounds, and main wiring and it all seems tight and secure. Any help's greatly appreciated. |

First make sure everything is turned off. If you hold your diagnostic port with the lock toward the 12 o'clock position as you look at it, jump the two wires on the right side together. Then turn on your ignition and kill switch. Your CEL will flash rapidly 8 times or so, then pause for 2 sec, then slowly flash the first digit of the code, pause 2 sec, then slowly flash the second digit of the code. If there are multiple codes it should cycle through all of them in that same pattern, then repeat itself when it gets to the last one. Hope that helps... |

Paperclip, screwdriver, whatever you have laying around. I recently encountered the same issue on an 09 this weekend, which surprised me as I've never seen that error happen to me before on a DDFI3 bike. You also could do it with Tunerpro, but it is a bit of a pain just for trouble codes. |

new tunerpro adx files will show codes. get the newest from the reliable Ecmspy.com site. tab to the codes page and see what they are. Gunter was kind enough to take the hand in making a version per ecm type. I am working on new stuff to do a little more. Mine work as well but I didnt put in the error code stuff. more to come in the future on these adx files. they get better and better. I can say I did it first that's all folks. I was using tunerpro when I was told it would not work long ago. well it was working and you now all see its the bomb even ecmspy switched creating the best xdf's. They took the main run and its awesome now... |
