i just got mine back from the second stator replacement,the first replacement lasted under 2 months,that was WITH the harness recall done, the HD tech assist said i need to keep the bike above 5000rpm all the time and the charging system would be ok....i told the tech that was not feasable as i am not able to start the bike and keep the revs over 5 grand all the time and being asked to do that was assinine and the tech thought it unreasonable too...... |

Warning: The following rant may not be suitable for children or young adults:
My o-rings went bad and hydraulic fluid was "weeping" which in itself is a joke, Diablo is only 2 years old. Diablo has been in the shop for over a week without any progress and I have now missed 2 riding weekends in a climate where I get maybe 3-4 months of riding at best. I just learned today that 1) The o-rings are on backorder until the end of September 2) The other parts needed to complete the job do not come as individual parts anymore and I need to buy a "housing" something or another at the tune of $200. Diablo is of course out of warranty.
So this is how our relationship ends Harley Davidson? I was screwed over less by my first love. Diablo is my third Buell and this is the thanks I get for 6 years of brand committment?
Let the civil suits fly....

I really feel for those whose bikes are laid up waiting on parts during prime riding season. I am glad I had my clutch weep fixed and stator harness done back in March/April, when it only took weeks, not months. Shame on you, H-D, boo-hiss. I will never buy an H-D bike. |

Yeah, all i could suggest in support is to investigate your states lemon laws thoroughly. It appears where I live in Maine to be very specific and supportive to the owner. A snipet of the law: Reasonable number of attempts; presumption. There is a presumption that a reasonable number of attempts have been undertaken to conform a motor vehicle to the applicable express warranties if:
A. The same nonconformity has been subject to repair 3 or more times by the manufacturer or its agents or authorized dealers within the express warranty term, during the period of 2 years following the date of original delivery of the motor vehicle to a consumer or during the first 18,000 miles of operation, whichever is the earlier date, and at least 2 of those times the same agent or dealer attempted the repair but the nonconformity continues to exist; or
B. The vehicle is out of service by reason of repair by the manufacturer, its agents or authorized dealer, of any defect or condition or combination of defects for a cumulative total of 15 or more business days during that warranty term or the appropriate time period, whichever is the earlier date.
I know it varies widely state to state, but it's a potential option for you I hope. Good luck either way. |

I was riding to work and the dash showed a system voltage message . When I pulled over to check it out I noticed my headlight was out . I turned on my high beam and by the time I got to work about 15 min. later the high beam was also out . . Its a real mess right now ! |

That sounds like the voltage regulator problem i have been having on my 09' R. When you get that message if you cycle the kill switch on and off and then re-start the bike your cluster and electronics should come back on and you'll see a system voltage of between 17-19V that should come back down to 13.8 or so. If the message comes back just repeat until the message goes away and the voltage returns to normal. Mine has done it for about a month and nothing else has fried yet.. waiting on the new VR to come in before i leave it with the dealer for the replacement under warranty. |

Thought I might contribute to this conversation with an anecdote from my dealership. In late June I lost some of the fasteners off of the lower fairing kit. They vibrated out on my commute home leaving me with a good old fashioned zip tie fix.
So, I ordered the replacement fasteners from the dealership and got the standard "7 to 10 business days" for them to come in. Needless to say, I have been waiting more than six weeks for the parts and when I called today was told "Harley has emptied the old warehouse and is moving parts to new locations so they may not be available for a while". Not sure if that is an accurate statement or if I was being patronized but if true, it does make some sense.
Luckily, this was an easy fix for me with fasteners that were available at a local shop. I'm just missing the fancy spacer and I ended up using nylon washers to fill the gap until the parts come in.
Regardless, with the changes around dropping Buell and redistributing resources associated to that business, it's fair to say this year will be sketchy at best for parts. I hope it settles soon.
