Cross-posted from the tale section. Since Shanda has never been to Deal's Gap before, and I've only been there once; we have decided to ride down to the area in August. We will leave either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning August 13th (I know tempting fate) and slab it through WI and Illinois. We can travel in WI anytime and there aren't too many curvy roads in IL, at least in my experience. If anyone has any good roads to hit the rest of the way down or while we are down there, I'm all ears. Our goal is to make it to Seed Lake in the Chattahoochee National Forest by Sunday night. We are meeting my brother at a cabin that belongs to some of his friends, maybe do some water-skiing before taking off on Monday. We will most likely start for home on Friday the 20th. While we are down there, I plan on hitting the Gap on a weekday, 28 (Hellbender), 106 and parts, if not all, of 441. Any other must rides? Not sure where we will stay yet-just started planning. Thanks in advance, Jon |

I was just down there last week, avoid 441 except for early morning, very scenic but lots of cage gawkers and slooow going in the afternoon. Cherohala was awsome,no traffic during last monday morning,Dragon was a blast,BRP from Cherokee to Asheville is OMG territory. Enjoy! |

Not much to add except- do the north end of the Dragon if you can. It's sweepers like the Cherohala, and zero police presence. Approach from Knoxville on Happy Valley Road, or the Foothills Parkway (one is dual-sport, one twisties), each intersects 129 just north of the rockslide. |

Southern IN has lots of nice roads. IN-45, IN-446, US-150, IN-66, IN-62 (all south of Indianapolis) just to name a few. |

If you will be passing through Western Ky a stop at Mammoth Caves in the middle of a hot day is really cool. |

Thanks Vern. Saw your bike at homecoming, but didn't get to shake your hand. |

Thanks Vern. Saw your bike at homecoming, but didn't get to shake your hand. We can fix that if you are around East Tennessee at the right time. Can't offer much help for when you are here, I believe I will be out of town most of the time you will be here, or prepping to go. Quite a few BadWeB riders in the area though. |

July 9th the Dragon reopens so you will be able to do the whole thing. I too am watching this post as we are thinking of doing a similar trip later this year or early next. Have fun and post some pics |

Be sure to do 28. Was actually way more enjoyable than the dragon, due to heavy police presence (4 posted along route and one patrolling nearby). Was there just a week ago. |

don't forget 'Tail of the Snake'... Shady Valley area, especially the 20 miles south of Shady Valley. A great warm up for the Dragon, less traffic. |

Be sure to do 28 With the exception of short straight section or two, 28 is a great road all the way from Deal's Gap to Walhalla, SC (just over 100 miles) if you've got the time for a side trip. |

Evileye, we are on a yellow Uly and a black Scg. We are definitely going to do all of 28. I would like to fit in 421 too if we can. Thanks for all the suggestions so far. |

12x9sl- check www.tailofthedragon.com for a recent ride report they did on 28. It names some cool places to check out and good places to eat along the way. |
