Are you buying a Multistrada, Greg? It's a beautiful bike and super high tech, capable, powerful, etc. And so light for a bike with all those features! I went to see one yesterday. A beautiful red Sport model. The guy really wants me to ride it but I'm not sure. I love riding my relatively new 08' Uly and don't need another bike. I'm focused on fortifying my Uly and putting miles on it. The Multistrada is something else though! |

Is the '77' connector an issue on 08+ models? Please say no! |

its been said, but my 77 gave me one fit, I got a volt meter installed for piece of mind and still have yet to be stranded. |

Is the '77' connector an issue on 08+ models? Please say no! No! 08's reverted to a single phase alternator (like earlier XB's) and dispensed with the 77 connector. Easy fix on 06/07's. Dr. Greg just proved again do NOT trust it past the end of your driveway. Excellent idea to also install a voltmeter so you KNOW when you have a charging circuit problem before the bike dies and strands you. |

Doc- I just might be interested in one and a half (or even just a half) of an 06 Uly. Still trying to resolve the broken throttle shaft on mine. |

The '08's+ still have a 77 connector (Check the wiring diagram in your shop manual, it's still there). They also have a lower output single phase alternator. Either the 77 connector on the newer units has been improved or the old 77 connector can handle the decreased output. |

If you buy a regulator it comes with a new style 77 connector. You have to cut your wires and crimp on the new parts. You can buy the new connector separately too. Glad to hear it was a simple fix Doc. While your down there you might go ahead and do the stator test and make sure there wasn't any damage to it. |

Thanks for the correction Rwven. I knew for sure it's not a problem on the 08's; I just assumed they'd done away with it altogether. |

There is some good info here...life springs from darkness on this site. The "submersible connector" is hot...gotta get some for the shop for trailer wires and all that. Also, shouldn't 68 Chev's and other Buell haulers have Harbor Freight 12v winches mounted on them? |
