It's raining in Maryland today so time to change my brake pads. Are there any tricks I should know?![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/dielaughing.gif) |

Turn the wheel so the caliper is centered between 2 spokes. GENTLY pry the pad open with a flat blade screw driver. Take top caliper mounting bolt out, loosen the bottom one, so the caliper pivots on it. Remove pad mounting pin. Remove pads. Reverse. Seriously like a 10 minute job on our bikes! DON'T FORGET TO PUMP THE BRAKES UNTIL THEY GRAB BEFORE RIDING!! |

Front or rear? On the rear, you'll need something to push the piston back into place before you put in the new pads. I used a piece of wood. |

The pads were the $26 pads off e-bay. I will give an update when it stops raining. |

Andymnelson - Funny you said it is a ten minute job. I bet my neighbor (a 1200 GS owner) that I could change my pads in ten minutes. It took me 4 min. 35 sec. (And I'm still here to tell the tale!) |

One step you guys are leaving out that may come back later to bite you- before you shove the pistons back into the caliper, you should clean the brake dust off of them. Otherwise the dust can cause the pistons to stick causing weird problems like the brakes coming on by themselves and locking up. DAMHIK |

She got ripped off a bike at God knows what speed. I hope I never ride with him. If he had a Uly she would still be on the back (triple tall and not all that fast!) |
