Went to the dealer and got them to replace my muffler straps under warranty. They let me take a bike out, I rode it for a good while. Didn't like it at first but was really starting to enjoy it on the way back.

Cool picture! I like them XR1200's too, especially the orange ones. How was the power and driveability of the engine compared to the Uly? I have not driven one yet but my local dealer claims the engine is very similar to the Buell. Is he right about that? Thanks. |

Yes, the ergonomics were totally different, but the engine pull was similar. I would want some aftermarket exhaust to improve the note. I would say it has better braking. No wheelie tendencies though |

Not for me, thanks. lets see a similar slightly less powerfull engine , hauling around an extra 137 pounds, almost a galon less of fuel in the tank, and 5in longer. I'll take a pass, but for those that like it, go for it. I will admit to likeing its looks in a retro way though. |

when I sit on those at the dealers, the damn seat is like a rock. The handlebars are a good feel, I like the gas tank, the foot pegs are just about right along with the riding position, but that seat just plain sucks and those mufflers are uglier than sin! nice try Harley, but NO THANKS! Take it back to the drawing board and try again. |

I tend to make a comparison to my sportster, and in that area it's much better, power, handling, suspension, brakes. I didn't' find the seat to bad, although I wouldn't want to do a 600 mile day on it. It's really not in the same category as the Uly, and it certainly would not be my one and only bike. |

I'm always amazed at the low price Rossmeyer's has them at when I walk in to their Destination Daytona megaplex. I firmly believe that you could walk in and just blurt out a number for one and they'd take it. Its only consistency is that they are low, low, low. Wasn't the XR one of the retro saviours of the stable, bringing young blood in to make the line and brand grow? Hmmmmm... |

I agree with you, Paralegalpete, it's a nice bike that feels much like the Uly. Smooth and quick acceleration with a very similar feel as the Uly. My favorite Harley. |
