Interesting the difference btw the profiles of the Bt-016s and Q2s--Bridgestones were scrubbed all the way and with identical riding i still have about 1/4 inch chicken strip on the Q2s. I hope to have those chicken strips gone when we get some SPring riding in here shortly.

Different tires are.... different. I can scrub in a Bridgestone 016 or 003 in a warm up lap.

I don't get the chicken strips off the front EVER of my Pirelli 16.5" slicks, even at fairly quick pace.

Dktech,

10-15k miles out of a rear tires is a pipe dream. With a bike with this much power, you'd be lucky to get 8k out of it. Although, it sounds like someone did get 10k out of PR2. Honestly, I have no idea how this is possible. I'm lucky to get 5k miles on a rear tire on my V-Strom 650. I averaged 4k on the rear of my GSXR1000.

You should give the Michelin Pilot Road 2 a chance. $151.49 with free shipping from tireexpress.com. OR, you could go with the standard Pilot Road (not dual compound) for $125.49 with free shipping.

Devin:

The only issue I have with the Z6 is you can't tell when you run out of tread in the center.

One day you'll be riding just fine and, the next you will have cords showing. At least with the PR2 you have some siping and wear bars to show the tread depth.

Wear is about the same b/t both, handling is also about the same.

The PR2 does have different compounds in the center versus the sides to improve it's leaned over performance and the center is harder for longer life.

thanks for the help, i think i will go with the pilot road 2. do you guys think i will have problems running the stock front with the pilot road 2?

Also, I noticed that a lot of people go with the pilot power 2ct in the front and a pilot road 2 in the back. Have any of you guys done that? how do you like it?

Three weeks ago i picked up a PR2 for $130 delivered from Ernie at: http://twobrotherstires.com/

They have been the best pricing for awhile. Only issue I have with them is they don't show their prices on-line, you have to call. B/T their pricing and great customer service, they are real hard to beat.

From their monthly specials:
Pilot Road 2: 120/70ZR17 front, 180/55ZR17 rear =$260

Dktech,

You'll have no problem running the harder tire in the rear.

In fact, on my GSXR, I always ran a Pilot Power up front with the harder Pilot Road in the rear. You'll be fine.

Got this site from another post a while back
www.jakewilson.com

Just checked the price, Pilot Pwr 2CT front & rear $212, free shipping.

My buddy ordered some for his M2 at that site and got them quickly, no problems.

I'll be curious to see the kind of mileage you get. Of course, you need to ensure the tire is inflated properly to maintain optimum performance/longevity.

I will be putting a PR2 on mine soon as the stock C3 is looking rather shagged.

on my set of PR2's i got (i know you wont believe me) about 9000miles out of the rear and still have plenty on the front after about 11000mi.....and as much as i dont want to admit it i didnt check the pressure regularly and probably could have gotten another 1-2k if i did...and i RIDE the PISS out of my bike..NO chicken strips and LOTS of highspeed runs and fast take offs (not trying to sound like a squid, but its how i ride it alot...like i stole it lol)...needless to say i was am VERY impressed by it!!!

I did exactly that, till I burned up the 2CT with which I replaced the stock rear. It works, but it's.... different. Then, when you wear out the front on the next round and replace them both, it's like falling in love again with a whole new bike.

A matched set is a good idea, if finances permit.
