Hey, I know most of you guys aren't into riding long distances, but I thought I would throw this out here anyway just in case any of you thought you might want to attend. The Dates for Springfast have been set, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, the 24th, 25th and 26th of April. Saturday, 24April2010 – Meet up on east side in Fountain Hills, at the Shell station, just before the Beeline Hwy, and ride up hwy 87 to Payson, up 260 to Show Low, and up through lakeside/Pinetop to Springerville. We will stop in Lakeside for lunch at a little Italian Bistro. Staying at the Best Western Sunrise Inn in Eager, 128 N. main st, Eager, az, 88925. I reserved my room through Expedia.com for $77 a night with my AARP discount. Total Travel Estimate: 4 hours 34 minutes / 239.10 miles Sunday, 25April2010 – After Breakfast, head down to Alpine, and then south on 191 to Morenci, lunch at the café across from the bowling alley, then back up 191 to Alpine, and Springerville. Dinner, and drinks till we pass out. Total Travel Estimate: 6 hours 34 minutes / 225.05 miles Monday, 26April2010 – Breakfast, load up, and head out US60 to Show Low, then down US60 to Salt river canyon, Globe, Superior, and back into the Valley. We will probably stop in Globe at a small italian restaurant that has some great pasta. There is a Safeway just down the road from the hotel, so you can stock up on refreshments, the rooms have refrigerators in them. Restaurants are down the road, and around the corner, not as close as we used to be when we stayed at the rode inn, but this hotel is nicer… Total Travel Estimate: 4 hours 35 minutes / 229.59 miles This ride is also being supported by the Motorcycle Sport Tourers of Phoenix website on Meetup.com So if any of you would like to attend, all you need is permission from your Honey for the weekend, and your boss for Monday. Ride safe! Midnight, if you haven't found anyone to extract that broken bolt, I have the tools and can help you. |

April 24th is Ufest No problemo Valiant, I rode up some mountain off of Central :P I keep finding problems that my previous mechanic caused... so sometime I need to fix my minor oil leak I think/hope is coming from the rear valve covers. I'll try to keep this short. I'm in the Guard, was attending college in MI. Got deployed to Iraq for a year, missed last fall in MI because they dropped all state tuition assistance and I decided to move down here. Just working until the fall semester starts here. Phil |

Hey, Bart... What do you think the temperatures are going to be like at that time? I recall that when I was in that area in October, it was chilly in the mountains and warm down by Morenci. Is it going to be cool up by Springerville? Particularly in the mornings/evenings? I'm going to try to bring my son out on this one, too. He's got an SV650 and is quickly growing into a really good rider. |

CJ, Springerville is typically 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix, during the day. In the past, it's been in the 50's when we wake up and get breakfast. Morenci is lower in elevation, which is why it's usually about 10 - 15 degrees warmer than Springerville. Weather info here: http://www.idcide.com/weather/az/springerville.htm I think it's been 4 years since I've seen your son, glad to hear he's doing good on his bike. Has he ridden the Crest road yet? 191 will be a good challenge for him. Looking forward to seeing you guys, the more the merrier! (Message edited by bartimus on April 04, 2010) |
