the 1125r is new to me i took it around the block today and it seemed a little luggy in first gear is that typical for this bike. and its only 50 degrees out and i went about 100 yards and the fans kicked on |

it would also want to stall when coming up to stop signs unless i pulled the clutch in a little |

They don't like to go less than 18mph. |

so its normal to be luggy when coasting around in first gear |

I second that it was made to go fast and that's what it likes. And the fans run just about the hole time on mine |

When coming to a stop it is normal to have to pull in the clutch or shift into neutral if you want to stop without the clutch |

The motor will loosen up on ya after a couple thousand miles and everything will be peachy! |

First, these engines aren't built like they were back in the 60's. They're pretty much ready to "run" after the first 500 or so break in miles. Even the so called break in. All that's being "worn in" is a coupla shims and the piston rings. Everything else is ready to run. The way these engines are fueled (timing and fuel maps) is not good from the factory. The EPA (and?) has seen to that. With proper remapping, they CAN be driven around at 20/25 MPH. At least mine is. Fans, yea, they finally come on. But again...see above. With proper fuel and timing maps, they run fairly normal temperatures as any other bike. I can even easily pull away from a stop in second gear....no stalling when pulling the clutch in from a high speed. Though it did a coupla times...BEFORE I gave the engine what it needs to run correctly...from within the ECM. Mike |

My bikes will run down to 15mph fine without tuning, and never has stalled on me coming to a stop. |

so once its broke in she is going to be ok and smooth out. |

Everything will get better once its broken in, my 1125R is now getting over 40mpg. Also, make sure your bike has the latest ECM flash. |

I'm wondering if with some software it would be possible to change the temps the fans run at. |

Yes that can be changed in the ECM, but I don't see why you would do that, the fans come on for a reason. |

I still have the flash that it had from its build date of 12/08. I get 29mpg and I ain't changing anything cause it hauls ass just the way it is. If I get the latest flash and start getting 40mpg something will end up being gone from its performance. And that would definitely not make me happy. |

Dealer will tell you what flash you have. Just looked at your profile, you live in WI, you could probably just ride to Erik's shop and shoot the shit with him and ask him those questions...... |

Pretty sure 1mike is running the O S B with a tune he has modded himself a bit... I run the same tune with the pre made performance calibration and my low end jerk is also much better... I can now lug it down to 2500 or so rpm smoothly... before anything under 4k was herky-jerky |

Just some food for thought, I have an 08 with a feb build date. No flashes at all. Mine was the same way for about the first 3 weeks. I live on a military post so in my commute I'm at 15 mph or less quite a bit. But the bucking and surging just went away. Like it just learned something and worked it out. I'm planning on getting the flashes, but really, It's freaking perfect as it is. Maybe yours will do the same. By the way, the scorching heat issues were the same way. It was just like a new bike showed up in my garage one day. (Message edited by budgolf on March 14, 2010) |

what is the normal or optimal rpm range while riding around. you want to keep it around 3-4? |

The engine likes to be revved, its built for it. Normal cruising I tend to stay in between 3 an 4k, sometimes 5k if I am in the mood. I will spin it up once in a while on back roads when nobody is around. It is happy as a clam just cruising at say 7 or 8k, but at that point you are just wasting gas in my opinion. |

I wish Buell would rename AT to IAT, because its not the ambient temperate. The IAT is the temperature of the air going into the air intake. If it says its 80°F, then it is probably correct. |

TPS Reset/Rezero for 2008 & later Buell XBike and 1125R/CR: To do a TPS reset on 2008, 2009, and 2010 Buell twins: 1. Switch the Run/Stop switch to the Run position. 2. Turn ignition key on. 3. With the engine off, rotate the throttle grip from the closed throttle position to the wide open throttle position and back to closed position 3 times holding the throttle grip against each stop for one full second. 4. Cycle the key off and back on. |

I think once the inventor of the FatDuc makes one for the Buell, the slow speed problem will go away. FatDuc meaning 02 manipulator. Its an ideal solution to the low RPM jerkiness. |

Annoying mistake on the 1125R was not being able to select which parameters can be displayed on the IC at the same time, however the bike is so good I can forgive the minor irritation |
