Ok, been working on installing DDM 35W HIDs in the R. Everything is in and looks good with the fairing off. I just don't see a decent home for the ballasts and ignitors. Where did everyone jam these puppies? ac |

I crammed the ballasts on top of the fairing metallic mount, one on each side, and crammed the smaller boxes wherever they fit. |

here's where i placed my 35w slim ballasts. i used the double sided tape that came with the kit to secure them. there's not much more room there so i don't know if the 55w would fit or not.

Just stuck them to the bottom. PERFECT spot. Now I just have to figure out where to jam the ignitors (maybe zip tied along with the rest of the wires) and everything will be perfect. ac |

yeah, that was the bottom. pretty much like you said with electrical tape and zip ties to hold the rest of the spaghetti. |

I will probably have to pull the lights back off the bike to tie the spaghetti up. This install is coming along nicely. The 4500k is REALLY white. I like it. ac |

did you guys have to do anything to the DDM bulb to get it to work with the R's Housing? I'm looking at my bulbs now and the factory set has some metal clip-looking pieces on the bulbs that effectively make the twist tabs larger. the set i got from DDM isn't wide enough to grab onto the housing. i think i might have to pull the clips off the factory bulbs... somehow... and put them on the DDM bulbs to get them to work. any input on that? Thanks. --kevin |

Kevin, I didn't have to perform any special mods. I put the bulb in and twisted (required some force). I will advise that the bulb only clocks in properly one way so orientation mattered for me. Are you sure you ordered the right bulb type? ac |

i know i ordered h8 bulbs. im on the phone with ddm right now... see if theres something im missing here as it stands, i can slip the bulb in without twisting or lining up the tabs. the diameter of the opening in the housing is wider that the diameter of the tabs on the ddm bulbs, just barely though. |

They must have shipped you the wrong ones. They should fit just fine in the housing the way ac mentioned. I placed my ballasts on the top using the double sided tape and ran the ignitors and the rest of the spaghetti to the bottom. Worked well. Also, I reset my rubber boots this weekend. I was having trouble with them sliding off. Just used zip ties to hold them firmly against the housing and they are holding snugly. (Message edited by hogzilla on March 09, 2010) |

let me see if i can get a pic. from looking at their website, the list of bulbs and the pics they have, the H8 looks like it still maintains the 90 degree turn, has the raised rubber gasket and has 3 metal tabs. Is that how yours look? the bulbs i received might be the H6... they don't have a 90 degree mount, just straight through to wires.. and the tabs are plastic with a flat silicone washer underneath. |

Yeah, sounds like you were shipped the wrong ones. Mine have the 90* turn, rubber gasket and tabs. That stinks. |

just threw it up on youtube. if you pause it near the end of the video, you might be able to tell how much larger the factory bulb's tabs are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pejf0SaD0J8 |

just confirmed it with DDM on the phone, I received the 880 series bulb. the white box that the bulbs were packed in read *880qc22*, which indicates they're 880 bulbs, not H8. guy said to take a picture of the bulbs and box, showing number, and submit a ticket for RMA on their website. thanks for helping out. I appreciate it. |

From the video...you DEFINITELY got the wrong bulb. That isn't what I got, and mine is labeled H8, but it still isn't 90. It looks JUST LIKE an H8 in all aspects BUT the angle. ac |

I installed DDM 35W 8000 last week and they appeared more white than blue and were reverse polarity, having to be flipped. The only problems I had were 1. It was too F-ing cold to be trying to install these, which made me rush 2. I can't get the rubber water tight seal to stay on. It keeps pushing its way off the round headlight opening in the back of the housing. Hmmm. Will post up pictures once I get the bike back from the shop. I already noticed cages picking me out of traffic better because of how bright they are. |

My rubber boot fit just fine...but I have an extra wire that no longer cleanly fits. the bulbs have 4 wires that pass through. The stock setup had the connector in the rubber boot. There is no provision for the stock connector to pass through. I am really starting to wonder if I got the wrong bulbs too. ac |

I had to put the connectors in the boot, cut a slit in it, then run the two wires out of the boot through the slit. Get's a bit willy-nilly. But works. |

Got an email back from DDM...apparently they have both straight and 90 degree H8 bulbs. ac |

Anyone try the 55w? I'm pretty sure stock bulbs are 55w and the HID's will run cooler. Just curious to why nobody is trying it! About to order some next week possibly. |
