So i got a good deal on ebay for a the unobtainable touring seat. Its probably a few years old but still in good condition.

First off its nice and comfy, but sheesh the first time i tried to take off i damn near slipped off the back of the bike. My seat is SUPER SLICK. i can't get my leathers or my jeans to stick to it.

it is bad enough that i'm considering going back to the stock seat.. so any ideas on adding my grip material to the seat that won't shred jeans ?

Grip tape would work but its like sand paper and eventually i'll have a cool breeze in the seat area of my jeans... maybe some kind of rubber pad...

any ideas?

It is possible that the previous owner put Armor All or a similar product on it. I have seen that create the exact problem you are talking about. Try cleaning it really well with window cleaner or something strong enough to get the oils out of it. Maybe dishwashing detergent. It may take a few times if that is the problem.

I'm guessing the previous owner did exactly that... why would you armor al your seat.... what a dummmy.

Made the mistake of doing that to the rear section of a Corbin gunfighter on my FXR, then took the girlfriend for a ride. She really wasn't too happy.

I have one of these on my street bike.

The touring seat can be a bit slippery for sure.

You can try cleaning with denatured alcohol, but I've never really treated the seat with anything and it's a sure bit slippery.

I think it's just the nature of the touring seat.

Well after a nice ride to the dyno i have decided i will spend the money to have it recovered before selling it.. it is comfortable for sure.. Plus i only paid 45.00 for it : D

so i got a few bucks to spend in getting it recovered.

the dyno operator notice the seat was slippery also, and he only rode the bike 25 feet lol

My touring seat was slippery when I first got it, now its grippy. I would love to have the slipperiness again, it makes it so much easier to throw around in the turns. I might just try the armorall.

Find a woman with some junk in her trunk. Have her don a thong and work that seat over from one end to the other. Even if the seat is still slippery at least you'll enjoy the show. And once it dries off it should be tacky...not slippy : p

I do believe the Firebolt/1125r Touring Seat (like all optional accessories for Buells) has been discontinued. You might still find one if you keep hunting. I located mine on eBay from a Harley dealer.

I've really liked the CORBIN seats I've had in the past.

I have a temp fix for now that works GREAT.

I got some tennis racket grip tape and wrapped the seat in 2 places. its not pretty but it works AWESOME!

When you find one you can send it to Baldwin Motorbikes Saddles and have it deluxed out with memory foam and gel. Note the Gunfighter mount. Loren rocks.

It looks good to me, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be friendly to my 29" inseam.

FUGLY? Each there own. The flash is pretty harsh in the photos, it looks great. The OEM one looks cheap to me.

It's about 1 inch thicker than stock, I kept the stock seat for track days.

The beauty of a custom made seat, you can make it look like whatever the hell you want. : )

Sorry you're right that was a bit harsh...

It's not a look I'd go for.. The rider's seat looks good but the shape of the pillion seat (in my opinion) ruins the lines of the back end...

But that's the great thing about customisation - it's a very personal thing..

No worries.

Really the shape isn't customized, that is the OEM touring pillion shape. The customization is the padding and the cover. The pilot saddle is only thicker than stock, same general shape. It is SUPER comfortable, but for the track I'm not "pocketed" enough. The wife loves the pillion, and she really liked the OEM touring saddle.

I'm look for a Gunfighter back rest, they've all been too expensive on FleaBay so far.

You killed a super rare touring seat to make that? You should be shot! Now go and turn a tuber into a chopper!

No passengers! lol

Sorry babe they don't make a passenger seat anymore. What's that? What's under that little cover on the back? Oh that's where the tool kit is stored. Un huh. Rear pegs? Hunh...I coulda sworn this bike shipped without them...oh. You found them in a drawer down in the garage? Those must have been part of some other bike dear.
