May be a less than intelligent question but since I just have the racks and not the bags on my 09 XT here goes. If I found a set of take offs is there any thing else I need to attach the stock hard bags to my stock racks? I think I found some with a little road rash but otherwise usable and no keys. Just need to know if there is some other dingus I need to attach. Thanks. |

If they are the Journey (stock XT) bags, you are good to go. |

If you need keys, you can get keysets and keys relatively inexpensively...but if the bags are currently locked, you're gonna have to cut the latches to open them and replace the locks, requiring new latches as well as keys/locks. |

Thanks for the quick replies, I'll find out about the latches, in the picture I saw one was open so maybe I'm in luck. |

As long as the latches (lid closure AND bracket latches) are open, you can swap key cylinders in a matter of seconds. |

I posted some photos on how to do the cylinder change in the Knowledge Vault area. If folks are looking for bags (without any racks), I have a complete set available since I put the gobi's on my bike and the Outdoorsman topcase. Wayne |

keep in mind, they will not latch without the key. It's not the type of bag you can just leave unlocked and use, the keys are integral to opening and closing the latches. There are also some little rubber nubs that some have claimed can be lost if the bag is pulled off without watching. I have yet to lose one, but I check them each time I remove the bag. They just minimize vibration. Good luck! |
