Goof-Off contains xylene so you can try that. And it goes without saying that xylene is some bad sh** so wear good gloves and be in a ventilated area when using this stuff. |

I think I hit the jackpot today. Called up my 3M representative at work to ask if I could order some of the Vetbond stuff. Turns out he was an EMT for 10 years, and he's going to send me all kinds of 3M first aid stuff. Including a human version of the Vetbond, plus some fancy self adhesive ace bandage type stuff, as well as a splint that rolls up into a compact ring, like a much larger version of those old 'snap bracelets' from yesteryear. Can't wait to see what shows up in the next week or so. Working on a way to label the tube FIRST AID KIT ENCLOSED. I don't really trust a sticker on that textured plastic, so I'm working on finding a way to make a stencil so I can spray paint it with Fusion red paint. |

Don't have to trust adhesive on a sticker. Make your own. 1. get sticker (mine will be red and white reflective in the universal "first aid" cross - pictures instead of words, never know who'll find you in the ditch) 2. cut to size 3. back sticker *and* sticker location with a thin layer of RTV silicone (think cream cheese on a bagel) 4. Stick 'em together |

Be sure that the first thing someone would pull out is a laminated card with your contact info, blood type and allergies. I put 4 of them on myself and the bike when I am doing serious high mile long days. |

I just ordered two from Bev at Agri Supply. $36.93 shipped to Canada. When you call the toll free number you get a human right away who can take your order. As I was chatting with her, she was telling my how many of these they are selling world wide to motorcyclists. Shipping to Europe is $70.00 I will put a bottle of whiskey in one marked first aid. That way if I go down the folks who find me can either have a drink with me or for me. (Message edited by paralegalpete on January 23, 2010) |

Put a spring loaded cobra-head in there. That would sure startle the bejeezers out of a thief. |

Oops! This looked like such a good idea I just ordered two tubes. THEN I realized that no longer would the side cases sit easily on the ground, either open or closed. Right? I go camping all the time, and I always remove the cases and set them up around camp somewhere. When the cases are open on the ground they form a "V" position...do they also do that with the tube mounted? Maybe I'm in a tizzy for nothing, but I do need to be able to set them on the ground. Thanks for any info. --Doc P.S. Just saw Hangetsu's post from earlier in the thread; that's my problem, too, now. Hmmm.... (Message edited by Dr_greg on January 23, 2010) |

Although I like the idea of mounting them on the bags, I do take off my bags and often ride without them. Since the tubes will hold emergancy supplies I want them directly on the bike. We shall see. |

The single tube along the back behind the license plate may be perfect for emergency stuff. With my tubes directly beneath the bags, they do not sit upright, but I generally lay them on their back when I set them down anyway, so that works fine. That's how I load them too, laying on their back. |

Where's the best place to get the Aluminum plate and how thick did you use? Do Home Depot or any of the places have pieces of it? |

I lifted this idea from the v strom site. The v strom pictured here has Givi racks I wonder if that set up would work on the Uly?

A few guys on one of the KLR sites use these. Some have reported the caps coming lose. Make sure to put a small screw through the threaded cap and partially into the canister to lock the cap in place. |

Make sure to put a small screw through the threaded cap and partially into the canister to lock the cap in place. I was half tempted to do this this a thumb screw into the bottom: Just to keep honest people honest. I hate to think how easy it is to pop one open and take all my tools. I know it'd still be easy to get open if they really wanted too. |

I just mounted two of these on the back of my Givi cases. I had to trim a bit of material off the tube mounts, drilled some holes, bolts them in, easy day. They look like they were supposed to be there, nice and solid. |

For mounting, I'm thinking of bolting the canisters to a base (plate), then attaching the plate to the bags with a spare set of FLH saddlebag fasteners. They're a 1/4 turn dzus-type fastener and would work perfectly for can removal. I think. I have to get my cans first though |

What are the inside dimensions? Site says 12" long x 3-1/4" diameter but is that inside our outside? |

I used hose clamps on the bottom mounting rack. I like to set my cases on the ground too. They have worked well this way for 2 years now. |

We need more pictures! I looked at mine last night, but the garage heat was cold and I didn't spend much time. My first attempt at mounting them behind the cases prevented the cases from going back on. I do have the older threads showing mounting methods for this tube saved. Maybe this weekend I will turn the heat up and try again |

I ordered one of these from Agri-Supply last fall. I had seen them used quite a bit on ADV. My first intention was to mount it on the back of my Yamaha Phazer snowmobile as it has a smallish fuel tank. I also purchased the MSR fuel bottle that pits perfectly inside the manual tube. The one thing I did do was go and grab one left over tube sock to put around the MSR bottle to eliminate any rattling. This made for a nice snug fit for the bottle. Good luck and keep posting pics. I am sure I will move my spare fuel bottle holder to the XT in the spring! |

I was thinking about the cap unscrewing as your riding. A good way to prevent this would be to slide a rubber o-ring to the base of the threads on the can and screw the cap all the way down, compressing the ring and holding the cap in place. |
