Are the gas tanks and swing arms included in Harley's 7 year commitment to make parts available? I've read of at least two who have had to replace Uly swing arms as a result of rear wheel bearing failures. If that happens in three years will a new swing arm be available? Thanks. |

They'll probably go "vendor direct", but I'd suspect they'll remain available. |

Do you know Ratbuell, or anyone else, if Harley got assurances from vendors before Harley and Buell told us that parts would be available for 7 years? I'd hate to lose my Uly due to a wheel bearing failure. I realize we have the 2010 wheel option, if it remains available, but I hope it isn't an 'install the 2010 wheel or risk losing your Uly' if a wheel bearing failure takes out the swing arm. Ths. |

We need to rename your account to WorrywartXT Buell has multiple vendors for parts, if something happened and say, the swingarm company went under, they would source them from elsewhere. I have read that legally, if your bike cannot be repaired under warranty, you must be issued a refund. I doubt it would ever come to that. |

+1 Froggy. Go ride it and have fun. If it breaks...it can be fixed. Worry about it then, if at all. |

Not worrying Frog, just thinking it through. I haven't reached the 'love' level with Buell that some have and the wheel bearing defect does trouble me. As always, I appreciate your info. (Message edited by buellerxt on January 11, 2010) (Message edited by buellerxt on January 11, 2010) |

This seems to be not as rosy as most folks think. Harley dropped Buell. Once a dealership sells out the last of their parts stock, they are out of the Buell business. Availability is dwindling fast. I recently recieved a reply from the semi-local dealership here in the PNW to that effect. It's worth noting that while they are out of the Buell and Buell parts business they have (or had) a Buell race team... I speculate that warrenty issues would be handled by special order as there are zero parts in stock for any model Buell. |

My guess is an outfit like American Sport Bike will pickup the slack on Buell parts once this transition phase passes. Here's hoping! (Message edited by rwven on January 11, 2010) |

Don't forget, there ARE dealers who have signed contracts (not just "we'd like to", but an actual CONTRACT) with the Motor Company to remain as Buell Service Centers for the length of the support period. We're one of those, and I know many sponsors on here are as well. Dealers who are saying "once we sell our parts, we're done" are the ones who have NOT signed on. If we sell out (like others who have signed on)...we'll order more, for as long as stuff is available. I just looked up some S2 parts for a guy last night. Still available. They come from the vendor who actually makes the parts, and not from an HD warehouse...but they're still available. And remember - they stopped making S2's in 1996. |

Panhead, which dealer is this? I need to make sure they aren't on my map as obviously they aren't an authorized Buell dealer. |

The other possibility, if they are actually on "the list"...is an uneducated parts counterperson going on (misguided) instinct - "they're closed down so we must not be getting anything anymore". I know. A parts guy who doesn't speak Buell. Who'da thunk it? But, sometimes the soldiers don't always get told what the generals are doing.... |
