unfortunately i had an accident yesterday. some idiot was driving backward in a crossroad and driven over my bike. I luckily managed to jump off the bike, but the bike is totaled. If i'll have enough money i'll buy a new one, and of course if i'll manage to get one in my country! What do you recommend to buy? I now had xb12scg and i loved it but now i'm considering of buying cr. But i really want a reliable bike, even for a log tours! So what would you do on my place? p.s. I have a very short legs, so the height of the seat can probably be a problem on cr... Even the scg have to tall seat for me! |

it is about 8CM higher on the CR but the 1 cheek sneek works fine you will not be disapointed |

I have a SCG and a CR in the garage . The two bike are barely related . I can flat foot the scg and tiptoe the CR . The scg feels like you are in the bike, the CR- better hang on,The SCG is more comfortable and easy to ride, the CR has awesome power. I got the CR because I thought it would be a more powerful version of the SCG .They are both great bikes but not comparable. Rick |

Thats accurate right there I have an ss and the seating positions are the same the cr is a little higher in the saddle but the comparison ends there the CR IS AN ANIMAL a very usable and awe inspiring animal the power comes on smooth and even and never seems to stop. I am in 3rd gear from 12-90 MPH and in about a second I can rip up to 90 but there is no powerband just seems to rush on even and smooth. All I can say is thank GOD for ZTL2 |

if you can get another scg, i'd get just because you are comfortable on it. i'd like to have a cr but i'm not going to regret not getting it. good luck none the less. |

I too have both an Scg and a CR and I am definitely vertically challenged. I rode my Scg yesterday after being on the CR last week. It felt very comfortable. However, the CR is amazing. My biggest problem was, I couldn't get the kickstand up cause I couldn't reach it. So, my hubby, Dan, made an extension tab on the original kickstand, so now I can reach it to both pull it up and push it down. We also got another seat and customized it to lower it some. I am still tip-toed on one foot and the other one is off the ground completely. My plan is to just get used to it and hopefully after many miles will feel as comfortable on it as I am on my Scg. Glad you're ok and enjoy whatever bike you end up with. |

Thanks for all the informations about the differences, it seams that the cr will be to tall for me. But how low did any of you menage to go? I was thinking of changing the cr tail with lightning like two on that forum already did..i think i could lower the seat and make it comfortable as the scg, of course with new bars also... I do like the reliability of v-twin engines, and i don't know much about new cr engine-is as reliable as v-twin? |

I'd move quick with the insurance company as the price of used Buells are plummeting daily. Might want to settle before their new NADA book gets to them. they are only going to pay you retail blue book unless your bike is new and it has replace with new rider for some length of time. This is common with cars, but I don't think so with bikes. |

The CR is a V twin, and while there isn't much long term data yet on the Helicon, all indications show that its more reliable than the XB. Oh, and there is less maintainable too! |

I'm sorry, yes i know that CR is also with v-twin engine but it's liquid cooled and it has much more RPM then xb. And usualy motor that are spinning faster are having shorter life time...or am i wrong? I know that i should move this question on 1125 forum but now as i'm already writing here..... Is there a chance to shorten the front forks and rear shock on CR to lower the bike like SCG (they only shorten the front forks from S model - right?) And again thanks to all |

Engines that spin faster dont necessarily have shorter lives, my gsx-1000 tops out at 14k rpms and it still runs like new, and my old honda cbr 600 I used to have topped out at 18k rpms and the only problem I had with it was its oil pump. |

About lowering the CR, it has been asked a few times on the 1125 section. General consensus is that it is dangerous and can lead to unpredictable handling characteristics. Your safest bet is to get a custom seat, but that will only give you so much drop. |

So my bike is at a local dealer right now and i'm waiting to tell me what is wrong with it. And then we'll see if i'll maybe get it repair (prices for buell parts are quite cheep at the moment) or it will be totaled. Well, anyway the dealer also checked if i can get a new one and he said that he can get me xb12scg or 1125cr But i still don't know which one would i take... for xb i can get a lot of aftermarket parts (big bore, cooling, exhaust (that also looks good!) and so on...), but there are not many for cr, And i like cruising at 2500rpm at xb, but i don't like that it shakes that much at stops... really hard decision!!! Please convince me for one or another model... lets see which one you like more! |
