I took the mirrors off my 09'CR and installed aftermarket LED flashers. The connections are different but I don't want the cut the connections off the stock mirrors. What should I do? I also completely denoided the bike thanks to some very detailed instructions. I forgot who posted the details and pics. Thank you  | ||

local home depot had the bullet connectors (male and female). Simple crimp and heatshrink = done! | ||

hehehe - I'm sure you are. Harder to find this forum than crimp on some connectors... I was able to do it! These look like the ones i found at lowes/home depot - i got the red ones which were for smaller gauge wiring. They had blue iirc for larger wire, still same size bullet connector though. And these worked perfectly to plug into the stock plugs!  | ||

Mine only flash FAST when the engine is not running .... I'm not using a resistor. | ||

I tried a 6ohm, 25 watt resistor in parallel with new LED front signals and it didn't do a damned thing other than heat up nicely. :headscratch So whatever resistance it needs, it's not the equivalent of a standard 1156-type bulb. I don't have an ammeter to measure the draw directly. KeS | ||

On the 1125 series the IC controls the flashing. Don't ask me how or why but it does. Changing the resistance may/ may not help. FWIW, my left side flashes faster than my right side. ALways has, even b4 I added more LEDs. | ||

I put LED turn signals front and back. I tried various resistors. What finally did work was one of these. One for the left side and one for the right side. I wired them in the back and attached them to the inside frame rail under the seat.    | ||

The wire pairs are purple/black and brown/black. I cannot remember which is right and left, (purple or brown). I am not an electrician, I believe it is a parallel connection. For example on the brown/black side/signal, I have one end of the resistor connected to the brown, the other end of the resistor connected to the black. The other side is another resistor, one end connected to the purple, the other end connected to the black. I am not seeing much heat buildup. I originally started with a 10W 3 OHM resistor. Smoking hot, and did not stop the fast flash. I took a guess at the resistor size. In the XB service manual, the signal bulbs are 10W .74Amp. Calculates to 18.26 OHM. Multiply that by two for front/rear to get 36.52. The closest I could find in a single resistor was the 10W 50 OHM. I hope I am not hurting anything. -Bill | ||

So how hot do those 10w 50ohm resistors get? I may just add two LED strips to the back under the tail, it worked in the front to slow the flash rate. After changing my rear signals to smaller ones, it's back to flashing fast.  |
