I just ordered an FMF slip on. I was told they only have a few left at the MFG. My local store could not locate it from distributors, he got me one for $390.
I think they want to clear this things out so if you want one jump on it soon.

when you say MFG, do you mean manufacturer? As in, FMF only has a few left in stock?

As far as I can tell, Tucker rocky and other distributors are out. The only place I can get one is direct from FMF.

socalmoe,

Plz PM me your local store's contact info.

Thanx.

I bought it at a local accessory store in Fullerton Ca. If interested let me know, I will give you the info (they are not sponsors, shhhh).
FMF only has a few in stock and none to be had else where unless your vendor orders one or you go to FMF direct.

I just went on my lunch break here in California to check out the FMF slip on in person at the Manufacturer. The one for the CR they have pleny of those. Did not check on the R version. Possibly running out. Can looks pretty good and well built. I still havent decided I'm in the market for this or an Hr1 because of the weight. The Hr1 weighs just 3.5 lbs the FMF weighs closer to 10lbs if they are any where near each other in performance than I got to go with the lighter pipe.

Oh the Tech said at FMF the Carbon slip on packing is suggested to be replaced in 20 hours of ride time. That seems pretty quick to me. It still is a good quality pipe I am calling Hard Rock tommorrow to find out about their packing. I am less worried about clearance on the Hard Rock can than the FMF.

R and CR exhaust is the same, someone is confused.

Maybe they were talking about the slip on system vs the full race system.

If you don't repack it, your turn signals will stop working on the right side.

I would think they will still be making them for a while still. It's not like every one of them fell of the face of the earth just because the bike isn't made anymore.

I just spoke with a customer service rep at FMF. She was very friendly and professional...

Q: Does the Apex require repacking?
A: Yes

Q: At what intervals?
A: Every 10 - 15,000 miles. There is a repack indicator sticker that will tell you when a repack is required.

Q: I noticed the end cap is riveted, do I have to drill the rivets when repacking?
A: Yes, but you actually drill the rivets and remove the FRONT CAP when repacking. The repacking kit comes with new rivets.

Q: What is the repacking kit part number and its price?
A: 012441 and $59.99

She also told me that the pipe is currently on backorder until 12/7.

Jesus.

I think someone was referring to the slip on as cr version and the full system as the r version.

The same slip on part number will fit the r and cr.

The same full system part number fits the r and cr.

I am not going to name the guy who told me 20 hours when I was at the factory. I will name the guy that did tell me 10,000 to 15,000 miles and his name is Nole. 20xb12s04 is absolutely correct.

I apologize for any misleading comments on my behalf just stating what I was told from FMF. Apparently what I was told was far from the truth. Maybe the 20 hours was on a 2 stroke dirt bike or something but that guy that told me he should really know the product better than that. That was horrible.

Yep Dec.2nd to the 7th somewhere in there is what I was told on the FMF slip on.

Freezer,

No need for apologies : ) We're all batting for the same team here.

I am in hot pursuit of a pipe for my new CR, and just wanted to be sure I had all my facts and figures straight, including all the costs for maintenance.

The gal I talked to on the phone had immediate answers to all my questions, and seemed very knowledgeable about the product. From what I understand, FMF is big in the dirt bike world, but is just now breaking into the street motorcycle market. So I can understand the response you got from the guy at the factory yesterday.

I give them props for being all made in the USA, and in the article I linked below, Donnie Emler was found in the shop wearing t-shirt and jeans "developing and making parts". Sound like anyone else we know?

Yep you are on top of it 20x12s04. Even with the 10,000 to 15,000 miles. I decided on the HR1 primarily on the lifetime warranty on the packing and 3lbs in weight. That's 19lbs right there I think the stock pipe is 22lbs. The FMF weighs 10 lbs.

FMF has been around a long time and the deal they have is going until March and probably cant be beat.

Jake at HardRock will work with anybody from Badweb on price but probably cant match the deal FMF offers.

Just out of curiosity, does the 3.5 lb weight of the HR1 pipe include the mid-pipe? Or is that just the weight of the can itself? There is an * in the pic below that does not get explained on their site.

Jake has told me their can weighs exactly 3lbs. and of course the weight of aluminized piping is seperate.

Now I know FMF weighs a good 8 to 10lbs. I know because I had the thing in my hand yesterday. I work right down the road. Plus the piping they have in their box. The piping is light probably add a pound or 2. Still there is way more weight savings with the HR1 setup.

HR1 pipe is aluminum and not Carbon like FMF but still weighs less. Maybe the material might be of interest to you on the can. A lot of people like Carbon. I would think Aluminum would hold up just as well but I am no expert.
