I'm selling my FMF Apex 1125R slip on exhaust. It has only been on bike for a total of 155 miles. It is in perfect condition. The only difference from a new pipe is that I have removed all the stickers.

It is for sale because after I crashed yesterday (pipe undamaged) I need the money and the silence to convert the 1125R into my daily commuter. If I left for work later in the day (leave at 6:50 am) or didn't live in a condo, I'd probably keep it. It is loud, but not too loud.

Asking $450, anyone interested?

Ron you went down again? Whatever happened to the issue you wrote to MCN about? Just curious. Hope you can sell your pipe.

Yeah, some idiot 20 year old girl was in front of me on Palomar Mountain and decided that she'd let me past her in the middle of a curve. Too bad she didn't use a turn signal or move over to the side. I grabbed the front brake while leaned over because she gave me nowhere to go if I straightened up. Went down on the left side this time. Speed was probably 30 mph or less. Unfortunately the list of parts that are f'd up include the front fairing, left pod, tail fairing, rear slider spool, clutch lever, handlebar, Buell heated handgrip ($70!!!), left mirror/signal, and worst of all the left side engine cover. The slider there is virtually nonexistant, so the metal got ground up on the lower part.

I had my one piece Teknic leathers on, but they actually wore through on the left arm. I have a quarter sized patch on my left elbow where the skin is gone. If the opportunity to buy new leathers comes around, I won't be buying Teknic. This was really a slow speed crash, so I hope to not find out how they would hold up at higher speeds.

I won't be claiming this on insurance because they raised my rates with that last incident. All I need is for them to raise it again because I'll be 100% at fault like they said last time.

In 12 years of riding I've never crashed, and this bike has done it to me twice in only 4000 miles. So I think I'm going to punish it by commuting every day.

Yes, the price is USD. New MSRP is $549. I'll include free shipping to the U.S.; outside US the buyer would have to pay shipping.

Yeah, she pretty much stopped in the lane mid-corner.

As a bonus, I got my California registration renewal notice in the mail yesterday. These criminals want $177 for a year's registration. I seriously couldn't believe my eyes. CA is going to charge me $14.75 a month to rent a license plate from them. They pretty much do everything they can to inspire you to move out of this state.

Sorry you crashed. In my world that's failure to maintain stopping distance, though. (shrug)

I've spent a couple of days hiking up and down Palomar assisting in cleaning the bike plastics out of the verge to improve relations with the locals. Interesting what you find up there.

I'd say I was about 2.5-3 car lengths back when she began to stop, call it 35 feet. Next time I'm on a backroad behind a car I'll have to double check my following distance to see if that is my norm for a 30 mph speed. This example comes out to less than 1 second for a time gap, but I'd be willing to bet that many people would find themselves within that range when following a vehicle at such a relatively slow speed. Stopping mid corner requires straightening up to maintain traction. Between her car and the edge of the road, there may or may not have been room to do that. I clearly didn't try it!

Do the locals complain more about bike plastics and parts being on the side of the road, or people riding at ludicrous speed? I like to give a little wave when someone is kind enough to pull over in a sane manner to let me past. This girl didn't get a wave.

(shrug) Bottom line - she got stopped, for whatever reason; you didn't. At least you stayed on your side of the road :thumbsup. Some bad accidents up there from people crossing over the line. So did the front just tuck when you applied the brake?

They complain about everything, of course - I probably would too if I lived up there and had to listen to bikes and cars rip up and down. Cleaning up the motorcycle trash was an idea sponsored by one of the sportbikes.net moderators; I believe they've done three years in a row now.

well, the stopping thing kinda goes out the window in my eyes when the stopping individual stops in the middle of the road for no reason. i hit a lady last fall and broke my frame at 40mph. same thing, she stopped for no reason middle of highway. ya, i slowed down cuz she did but then she stopped. it throws you!
