Even when Buells were sold at some dealers, many of us have been less than happy with availability of parts and service training for mechanics. Sounds like there are laws that HD must continue to make parts but I suspect dealers will not stock and only make available as a special order item. For those of us that don't wrench and or were hoping to use the bike for trips, this seems to severely limit the usability of our bikes. Anyone know whether there is a requirement for past dealers to maintain certified mechanics or does the support of discontinued models stop at the parts counter. |

Mark- there have been a couple of posts here (and I heard it confirmed at one dealer) that dealers have the choice to sign up to continue to support Buell or not. If they sign up, I believe they will continue to provide parts and service for 7 years after closure. I would guess that HD is offering some sort of incentive to the dealers that choose to do so. It has also been confirmed (again) that if a dealer drops Buell, they can no longer order Buell parts for you. That is not changing. The dealer ~100 miles away from me is signing up to provide continuing support; I don't know about the dealer ~20 miles from me yet. |

As many of us tuber owners have learned over time, it's easier to get Buell parts when asking for a cross-referenced sportster part number. Of course the number of sportster parts used on a Uly is far fewer than any of the tubers.. My suggestion would be to invest in a service manual and learn to maintain your bike without the help of a company that is only bound by law to keep you happy. |

On one of the posts I read that the expected number of Buell support dealers nationwide was going to be about 25. I've ordered many parts from a non Buell dealer (Chicago HD), is the policy of non Buell dealers not being able to order parts something new to the shutdown of Buell? |

Chicago HD does sell Buells. At least they have a bunch of them sitting in their showroom. |

That's always been the policy- Court and several Badwebbers that work at dealerships have confirmed it repeatedly. I think some of us were hoping they might relax that policy with the shutdown of Buell, but it doesn't look like it will happen. Who knows? It might turn out to be EASIER to get parts when you end up with ~25 dealers who are committed to supporting the brand. |

Chicago HD is a Buell dealer. The only dealers who can order Buell parts are AUTHORIZED Buell dealers. |

If you read the initial post, the concern is if you're traveling and need to get something fixed. This is a concern of mine as well. I have the manual, but that's not going to do me much good 2000 miles from home. Does anyone know if a list of supporting dealers is going to be published? |

The non-buell specific parts make up less than one page of the parts book, and most of them are fasteners/washers/etc. |

yeah, I hear the OP's concern loud and clear. When you couldn't really just look up a Buell dealer and feel good about showing up at their door, what's it gonna be like now? I guess those that stick around will be in it for the long haul. Is there a list of independent shops that work on Buell online somewhere? |

I asked Lancaster HD/Buell if they were participating in the Buell parts and service agreement and just got a return E-Mail from them that says "As far a we know yes. So if you need anything feel free to call or stop in." That would be great for me as they are only 45 minutes away. |

When I bought my Uly this was a concern for me as I plan to own it for a while and tour on it. The dealership told me they regularly ship Buell parts to non Buell HD dealerships. Not sure how true it is, but at the time it put my mind at ease. |

In considering a 2010 Uly, I have to wonder if the new ECM software with the second sensor might not benefit from a little tuning after a few month experience in the real world. With Buell shuttering the plant I have to be a little concerned that the 2010 bikes will never see any SW refreshes/updates. Perhaps this can be done via the dyno tuning route. This is not my area of expertise. |

I got in touch with my Dealer, (Greatlakes HD), in Bay city Michigan. They are still going to service what they sell. They are great people, I'm also pretty certain Jammer at High Country HD, in Colorado, will also be able to help us out. He, also is a Great guy, (and a great dealer)! Greatlakes HD, still has an 07 Uly, 07 TT, and an 09 SX Lightning, on the floor, from what Jay told me. |

Well Gateway Harley/Buell here in Saint Louis posted this morning that they will still fully support Buell and Buell owners http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/pages/S aint-Louis-MO/Gateway-Harley-Davidson-and-Buell/82 859365937?ref=mf Gateway Harley-Davidson and Buell OUR BUELL SIGN WILL REMAIN HANGING We will miss the new production lines of Buell just as much as you. However, we still have Buell motorcycles, parts, merchandise, and qualified technicians. We are still very much a Buell dealership. And we still need you guys to be our Buell family! |
