I added some 55W HIDs from DDM this last winter and riding home last night the low beam went out, switched to high beam (killing everyone in front of me ) then low beam flicking on/off. Never had a problem with hids before on any bike. Could be the hids (yes, I use a harness, not stock wiring), could be the bike. At any rate, scared me enough to remove them and go back to my Silverstars. I think I'll look at adding PIAAs (or equivalent, maybe modded HIDs in PIAA like frames). Any links to a good install bar for lights like that for the Uly? Anyone else running HIDs have a problem like I've described? |

The only time I have seen my HID's flicker was due to a bad connection or not enough battery voltage. Also running a DDM kit. |

I've put the cheap ebay 35w hids in 3 bikes now and not a single problem. I am very pleased with the light output and just don't see the need for 20 more watts IMHO. |

Pull your bike up next to mine, and watch your HID's get dwarfed like they are a key chain flashlight |

Sounds like a poor ground. That was my problem when mine stopped working. |

I did right after I got the kit, then it stopped. No changes, no clue why. http://www.ddmtuning.com/ |

Wow, about the same cost as Ebay, I thought they'ed be $200-$300 and the ballasts look to be the same size. I may have to up my H beam to 55w if they're that much brighter. More Power! Oh by the way, here's an amazingly bright keychain light. Brighter than a standard 2 D cell flashlight http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=141 (Message edited by ronmold on October 10, 2009) (Message edited by ronmold on October 10, 2009) |

The rating you have to look for is Lumens, not watts or batteries or anything. 10 Lumens is a lot for a keychain, so I bet it does good. A normal headlight bulb is about 1200 lumens depending on the bulb, while 35 watt HIDs are around 3000 lumens. The 55w HID kit from DDM was about 5000 lumens if I recall. Very nice and bright, don't look directly into the bulb when its on! |
