My Uly is a 2006 with a jardine exhaust and an aftermarket ECM. I bought it this way so I know very little about it. I do know that it is rediculously loud though, so I am thinking from reading here that the packing is probably gone from the exhaust. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to repack with? I hear SS wool, but have also heard of some stuff called silent sport that was interesting. Also, I am interested in the RT1 Quiet Module Insert. Does anyone have any info on this? It says in the product description that it "may require jetting change". What does that mean? Thanks! |

Go to cycle gear, they've got exhaust packing material. just drill out the pop rivets on the rear of the exhaust, and slide the guts out. wrap the packing around the center, and stuff it carefully back in. Replace the pop rivets, and your good to go. I've got Jardines on all my XB's, I replace the packing about every 10,000 miles, it only costs about $15 each time. Pretty cheap to keep your exhaust sounding and performing like new. |

The "quiet module insert", or as we affectionately like to call it, "the butt plug" does make it a little more quiet but causes some restriction of course. As far as "jetting" goes, it will run fine with the stock ecm fuel maps but if you want to optimize it for maximum power than yes, playing with the fuel maps will help. In either case you should have someone put ECMspy on it and take a look. The butt plug costs about 30 bucks I think. It's just a piece of aluminum with a hole drilled in the middle. I think I've got as spare one laying around somewhere if you want to give it try before purchasing one... |

Thanks for the advice from all! I would not mind trying out the "butt plug" (that does not sound right), but I am guessing that unless you are in Houston, I may pay almost as much shipping it back and forth to you as it would cost to just buy it if I can find a place with free online shipping. Any ideas? Also, I saw on the aluminum RT1, that they had one that has a "muffler" sticking off the side, like and exhaust pipe extension. Does this do anything, and why dont they sell it with any of the other cans? |

Get the Race tuber buell repacking it's hard to fit in but will last a lot longer sold by American Sport Bike, I put that in and has lasted around 10k miles |

I think that is just a tail pipe so to speak. |

Thanks, just ordered the ceramic fiber repack kit from them. I will try that and if it is still to loud and obnoxious I may try the buttplug. |

Don't put the packing in too tight, just enough to fill the space. Too much will reduce the muffling ability. |

the tuber race repacking is like in a pillow cover, so its far easier to fit in than what it looks like at first, but while you're at it maybe to avoid using rivets, weld some nuts to the inside of where the rivets go and use good quality screws, i did it on mine and it works great. |
