Can a Rear rotor be machined (turned) at a machine shop.. or am I crazy..?? Thanks |

There's a rear brake? My X1 just has this pedal on the right side that makes the rear wheel stop spinning. Not slow down, just stop spinning. |

There is not a lot of material to be turned. That being said I think they can be but you would be hard pressed finding a shop that would do it. At least that is my experience. It would be better to get a new rear rotor. And yes, your crazy SteveO. Frank |

No it cannot be machined, Bad idea! I tried it at my shop on the brake lathe and it just peeled out in long curly shavings. It is the wrong metal type for auto shop lathe bits. Now i don't think you can get any different bits to work either. I even tried to use a rotary brake pad buffer while the lathe rotated the rotor around to smooth out the re-surfacing for me. It lasted like 3 weeks and now is worse than ever. |

I bought a new one at the HD/Buell dealer for $68 dollars plus tax. Turning it is probably not worth the effort |
