My plan is to meet as usual for breakfast. Ride plans can then be discussed. I am having a hard time to commit to an actual time to meet at another location right now. Gators has been on our standing saturday ride meetup for a while now. |

I had fun until I started dripping oil all over then I just wanted to get home. So I spent the last three hours getting my rear valve cover off. Man what a PITA trying to get off without rotating the motor. I had to remove my whole airbox and base plate, disconnect some fuel lines, remove the plastics for my tail section drop my tail section to make more room and remove the rear shock. Still a lot easier then rotating the motor though. So now I finally was able to pull the cover off and I find that the Coil seal is missing from the valve cover. Have a I been running without it for the last 2500 miles and it just now started to blow oil by the coil boot? Or did it self destruct and get chewed up by the motor? |

Swede save the oil and we can have it tested for about $18 and that will tell us where the metal is. |

Thepod- if my bike runs after I get it back together I will be there for a short ride but it will end at Latus for our monthly meet at 10. The ride was great. The gravel section we rode through right before the diary farm is now all freshly paved. Very nice! |

Pod-Pirate... Aye, seems cabin Girl Isabella, daughter to the dread pirate pair Robert and Elizabeth come up with and extra saber. E' asked for your email address earlier this week! Funny sorts ah' thing, mine went missing too! Come up a few berths down with the neighbor boy. And all the gold coins are amissing' too! Aron, I'm going with "ate up by the motor", you would not have left it out. You may find some of it yet in the filer. Hope the return ports on that rotax are nice and wide... |

Heh, no problem, she can keep it. I figured I would grab it if it was at your place, but she will likely get more use out of it than me. (Message edited by thepod on September 28, 2009) |

Well that's a little unnerving. five hours and a $20 gasket kit and she's all back together. |

Coil seal? That's a new one on me but then again, I have never touched anything Rotax. If the seal was part of a replacement gasket kit than I don't believe you left it out and now get an oil leak after all this time. If it was one of those soft neoprene rubber gasket type seals which you retained(which are often re-useable but better replaced with new each time) because I have heard of many cases of leakage when reused. Could your seal have been forced out? When you had the top cover off was there any sign of the seal chewed up or otherwise? Is there an oil strainer or filter screen you can check out. Wish I had more first hand experience with this engine. Change the oil- maybe you'll find a clue in the drain pan |

Yeah there is an oil strainer which requires dropping the exhaust to get to. I really don't understand how it could have come out considering how it is mounted and clamped in place. Much more likely that it was knocked out while wrestling with getting the cover back on. But it doesn't explain why it took almost 2500 for it to start leaking through the coil plug. This time I know I didn't knock it off. was able to look down the plug hole with a flashlight and see that its was still there. |
