Oldman, Though I agree with you entirely on the issue, there is one fly in the ointment wrt the evidence that socialism fails, and it a big giant mongo horsefly. It calls itself China. I'd stick with the freedom and liberty based stance against socialism. |

Blake - to be fair, China has historically continued to drift, very slowly, away from communism. The argument can be made that it's the only reason they are as powerful as they are, and also that they are still as poor as they are (China's per capita income is roughly $6,000, compared to the U.S.'s $47,000). |

Chinese capitalism is the new blitzkrieg. Think about it...they won't have to fight for territory, they simply buy it up. In another 50 years, China will change it's name to ACME. |

It calls itself China. Blake if you are addressing me, they are not totaly comunist, they started letting the farmers sell crops and keep a portion of the profit, [ productivity skyrocketed ] I read a story on China in the natgeo a cople of weeks ago, not totaly [comunist] marxist, for instance you can find a job in another city and persue it, althoug the conditions are appaling, but for some (many more than a few, the lifestyle rivals our own) they own homes and cars the Chinese have many more issues to deal with related to the government but that too is changing The culture is largely different and they have not had 3 generations of comfort, like we enjoy, they are very driven they will advance and may soon be the dominant power, that is why they are a. not a fail, and b not entirely socialist, BO for all of his education and elequence seems to fail to understand the simplest underpinnings of our republic and economy, sad that a Dumbarse like me would stand a better chance of getting the mess straightened out then he will because of his "spread it around" mentality Teds comments about "they smoke ,drink, are all decked out in expensive jewelery, and are using cell phones BUT can't pay their bills," business before bling, his comments about government and detroit being run by the "gangsta" mayor and the like are telling and largely correct IMO. There is one area that I disagree with the Nuge on, our seniours who have worked and paid into social security did so with the expectation of having a survival income come from that, years ago the government that was supposed to be the honest trustee of that money robbed that bank, and squandered the money. its time to clean house on the hill, Teds in your face approach, and seeming honesty is a refreshing change from the waffeling self serving politicos that largely occupy the landscape My slogan 2010 is comming and the voters can enforce term limits, no law required, thought is though. |
